He seemed to be walking fine last night. However, if he can't walk, all of those places have wheelchairs. There is also this invention called crutches.

Good stuff. I was listening to the radio down here and they brought up his two hip replacements and the fact there could be some blood circulation problems in his foot/leg, which would cause the swelling. I aint no doctor so I don't know how legit that is either.

You are selling him short, mister. Those snide remarks he makes at the press conferences do not just grow on trees you know. He needs to contemplate, phrase and rephrase them in his mind - playing them endlessly while trying different emphasis points and damning silences.

That and he is made of sugar. The rain just makes him melt.

LOL. Sure why not. I don't think they will do anything with it though. It's one of those things where you need to read between the line. I had a similar long posts once Martel fractured his 5th metatarsal and talked about the recovery time. I knew he was going to be out a long time, Jones fractures take a while to heal. Unfortunately he rushed back re-fractured the area thus killing his season. The sad part is if he waited another couple of weeks before he started running, took another week or two to get into game shape he would've been available after the allstar break. Just goes to show how fine a line is between playing too soon and making sure you are completely recovered. I just wish people would keep this in mind when they were talking about Oden and why he was slow to heal. Did he want to play or was he soft etc.....Obviously the knee is not my area of expertise but the healing principles are the same and rushing players back to fast leads to catastrophic outcomes (Martel case in point).

I had posted this article yesterday in a different thread. If you wouldn't mind, could you read through it and give me your thoughts? It's the article on Walton's and Gross' injuries...and the aftermath. You'll need to flip through the pages, then use the zoom tool to actualy be able to read the text. Thanks! ABM.

OK, now this type of stuff is a bit more legit. Traveling with a bad hip in general would hurt and is easier to sit out and recoup a bit. Circulation problems either PVD or venous insufficiency (peripheral vascular disease ) can be problematic. PVD can be extremely painful depending on how severe it is. Mostly we see this in smokers, diabetics etc (people of poor health). With Venous insufficiency blood tends to pool in your lower extremities because your veins can't deliver the blood back to your heart fast enough. Therefore you get dependent edema which such symptoms are exacerbated by flying. Treatments for this are medications such as diuretics and wearing things like compression stockings when flying. Why they couldn't just say that is beyond me (unless its not legit). Honestly, I think he just wants a day off.

BTW, if people don't want to hear any of this just let me know. I just thought people might be interested in knowing a bit more about stuff like this (kinda like a quick behind the Blazers locker room report only as it pertains to injuries/recovery time or whether or not it is BS). Of course I am not privy to the information about any players/coaches health but I feel as if I can provide insight of some sort based off the information provided through the media and relate that to everyone if they so wish.

I think it's very interesting. I hope you provide some commentary/analysis like this whenever a medical issue comes up. It's nice to have someone who at least knows the medical science, even if you haven't examined the people themselves.

Thanks. Anything you guys are curious about if I don't comment just ask and I will when I get a chance. LOL. Maybe I should become a moderator of the forum (for medical topics only).

Re: Phil Jackson's Injury is Bogus

Honestly, after reading that all I can think about is medical malpractice on the Blazers doctors part. Of course this was years ago, I only have info based off of what I read but repeat injections to play through the pain (medical malpractice IMO). I wouldn't of been surprised either if they mixed steroids into those anesthetics in order to reduce the inflammation and pain. Problem is, depending on where and what they were injecting (we will never know for sure) steroids will weaken tendons and ligaments making them prone to rupture and bone stock will be weakened making them prone to fracture. The talonavicular fracture Walton suffered is one of the worst injuries to have in the foot as those bones make up part of your medial column of the foot. Fracturing those bones, can lead to a unilateral flat foot (a depressed arch). If I was Walton or Gross, I would of wanted to be traded as well.

That article brought up some very bad memories. That was a dynasty that just crumbled.

How much do you think Lamar Odom' yeast infection will hold him back tonight?

It's hilarious how you keep trolling away trying to get a rise out of the Blazer fans with your "witty" comments, but for the most part everyone just keeps ignoring you. Try this site: ttp://www.oregonlive.com/forums/blazers/

I think you will find it more your speed. It is Spring break for some of the other junior high kids though, but most will be back next week.
