There is so much Kobe homerism on this site it makes me sick. At least Nash has a winning team.</div>And Kobe's team is not? He has them on a roll the past 4 games and there racing up to the 6th spot.. Kobe has pratically kept this Lakers team alive the whole season something he couldnt do last season due to injuries and coaching issues. Kobe has probabbly one of the worst benches in the NBA, and a mediocer lineup. I havent seen that much Kobe homerism on the site.. it's been mainly Dirk and Nash claiming there the MVP. While guys like Kobe, Lebron, Wade have better numbers and have a winning team.Take Kobe or Lebron out Lakers and Cavs would be fighting for that #1 lottery spot.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (BigMo763 @ Mar 29 2006, 12:46 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>It's not even that. I've been saying all along that Dirk is second behind Nash for the MVP, in my opinion. What I find funny is a lot of the reasons people here give for Dirk being more deserving than Nash for the MVP, as well as why he is more deserving than Kobe (and I do believe Dirk is more deserving than Kobe). It's not that I don't want Dirk to win it, it's just that the reasons that are being stated are either 1) completely ridiculous, 2) contradict what the same people have said in earlier posts, or 3) are completely unfounded.Clearly you guys have made some rational, valid points, but lately I have been reading some clearly irrational and absurd reasons to support from members to suppor their arguments.</div>BALLORAMA LIKE I TOLD YOU AT LUNCH. KOBE DESERVES MVP, BUT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT WHO WIIINNNNNS. TALENT + TEAM = MVP, THAT IS WHO THE MVP VOTERS VOTE FOR.So Kobe ain't gonna win it. Now, look at it this way. If Billups, Dirk, and Nash didn't exist, the Suns would have Marion and Amare to lead the team, and if Billups wasn't there, they'd still be loaded at the four other positions, and Mavs would have Terry and Howard. You decide...
Kobe isn't a team player. Maybe the bench isn't that good but Kobe hasn't made Odom or anyone on the lakers team better. Kobe is a one man show. He is the most talented player in the league but not the best team player in the league. I'm fine with Nash winning the MVP since he makes his teammates better. Dirk also makes his teammates better. Terry and Howard have both improved and I feel it is partially because of Dirk.

You decide...</div>First of all, maybe you should read a post before making a post responding to it when your post has absolutely nothing to do with what I said.Second of all, your formula there pretty much contradicts your argument as to why Dirk is more deserving than Nash. You've been saying all along (and you even said it in the post I quoted above) that Dirk has lower quality teammates than Nash, right? Well, your little formula ("TALENT + TEAM = MVP") contradicts your previous argument.Third, why are you using hypothetical situations to support your argument? Now, I already addressed the second part of your argument here in the other thread debating this topic, so check that out because it pretty much ends that debate. But, let me just say this... why are you saying the Suns would have Amare to lead them? He has played what, 3 or 4 games this season? So, he's not included in this discussion of what that team would be like without Nash. Also, if Nash was gone, the Suns would not be able to play the same system they currently use... he is the reason why that system is successful. It's as simple as that. You can't say the same thing about Dirk and the Mavs' system... atleast not to the same extent. Now, Dirk is definitely up there with Nash in terms of the MVP race, but he is not past Nash, nor does he deserve to be at this point. Right now it is Nash first, and Dirk second.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Waqas @ Mar 29 2006, 08:43 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Yeah, it contradicts, but the MVP voters seem not to notice that.</div>Wow... I'm done with you. It honestly amazes me that you fail to present any logical statements to support your argument, yet continue to claim that Dirk deserves to be the MVP.And yes, the MVP voters will tell you that Nash deserves it more than Dirk... just wait for the voting.

Yeah, but there's an MVP matchup here.Dirk's opener basically canceled-out Nash's win in Dallas, and the middle game was a Dallas win, but it was basically split. This game will decide it...
One game does not decide the MVP. That's stupid. The MVP is determined on his success the whole season not one individual game.
Meh, we'll just see how this all plays out..since my media topic wasn't pinned , this is just a side-note...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rr3DxCV440E&search=dirkWatch Dirk's OT clincher against Toronto from the crowd's perspective!!
