Go HOUSTON!!!! What if Portland, San Antonio, and Houston win out. That would mean that Denver losses the last game against us. We would all finish with a record of 54-28. Looking at the schedules Denver has the tie breaker over San-Antonio by head to head wins 2-1. Houston has the head to head mach up over Denver 3-1. Houston and San-Antonio if they win out it goes all the way to about the fifth tie breaker which I am not taking the time to find out at this point. My question is what if say San Antonio has the tie breaker over Houston putting them in the third spot but Portland has the head to head match up over San Antonio. I think this would mean that because san antonio won the south west division they are given a higher seed. By the was San antonio and Houston have split season 2-2. Two-Team Tiebreaker 1. Division winner (this criterion is applied regardless of whether the tied teams are in the same division) 2. Better record in head-to-head games 3. Higher winning percentage within division (if teams are in the same division) 4. Higher winning percentage in conference games 5. Higher winning percentage against playoff teams in own conference 6. Higher winning percentage against playoff teams in opposite conference 7. Higher point differential between points scored and points allowedTwo-Team Tiebreaker Three-Team Tiebreaker 1. Division winner (this criterion is applied regardless of whether the tied teams are in the same division) 2. Best head-to-head winning percentage among all teams tied 3. Highest winning percentage within division (if teams are in the same division) 4. Highest winning percentage in conference games 5. Highest winning percentage against playoff teams in own conference 6. Highest point differential between points scored and points allowed So If San Antonio wins the south west division by the fifth tie breaker the order will go like this denver 2 San antonio 3 Houston 4 Portland 5 If Houston wins the south west division the order looks like this Houston 2 Denver 3 Portland 4 San Antonio 5 So we want san antonio to lose obviously and houston to win I think Houston currently is winning the fifth tie breaker against san antonio but i didn't take the time to figure it out. I don't want Houston to lose because then we will pass them and end up third against dallas which we don't want. I think i did this correctly but not sure any insight?
This kind of messed up scenario is why EVERY single game is huge in this league. I think of the Clippers' loss and I just cringe.
You nailed it, Rugby, and by my understanding, Houston does have the fifth tie-breaker over San Antonio. As long as Houston wins out, we're good to go. Now go take a moment to figure out what happens if Dallas, NO, and Utah all end up tied at 49-33.
my point is do we really want Houston to lose and dallas to win. If Houston losses to dallas then dallas has a chance to maybe end up sixth and we end up third if Houston losses. I would rather play san antonio with home court than dallas at this point. Im rooting for new orleans and houston. If they can beat dallas and san antonio that would give us a lock for the forth spot against san antonio. What would be the sweetest by far is if we got the third seed and some how utah got the sixth. We would murder utah at home and then not get matched up againts LA in the second round. Im just nervous about getting matched up against dallas. I would love to play new orleans as well.
