I understand he missed the game with severe hemroid inflammation, but these excuses are so lame.

Does this rule exist? I have never heard of it, but of course that doesn't mean that it does not exist.

Assuming it does, I wonder what kind of video it was intended to cover if not this kind of video, and if the team is fined I wonder how much it will be.

Phil Jackson has spent his whole career as a coach trying to get a psychological edge. Now he bitches when it happens to his team?

Who can't make a 2 hour flight because of a bad foot to coach in a game his team really needed?

Even though I hate Phil Jackson as much as you guys, I have to agree that a video of such a play shouldn't be showed right before the game. What happened, happened, no reason to keep bringing it up when there is obviously already a heated rivalry going on.

For those who were at the game, was the video shown only the Ariza foul, or was it a highlight reel of past meetings that happened to include the foul?

They were doing their standard high-lights to get the crowd pumped up and then added the foul at the very end.

I hate the Lakers, but I think Phil is right and have to agree with him. This rule is common among all sports. That's why they only show 1 replay at college football games because showing a bad call over and over caused the drunk fans to get out of control.

Actually, they have been showing that ariza foul since the game after it happened. I personally don't like it, because it doesnt get me pumped up. It was a dirty play and I just want to see highlights, not hard fouls.

No, actually, your boy Ariza created the situation by committing a deliberate, flagrant foul that injured another player. Just because the league let him off with a slap on the wrist, doesn't mean the Blazers, or their fans should.

Not nearly as much as Rudy was. How many games did Rudy miss as a result of Ariza's classless, dirty play?

Boo freaking hoo. Trev got rattled by the Rose Garden crowd. Tough shit. He better get used to it if Phil wants to depend on him in the playoffs. If poor Trev doesn't want to get booed, he shouldn't tackle players from behind in mid air when his team is getting blown out. He's the one that started this, not the Blazers. Deal with it. The Lakers may be dirty, but they're still soft - both physically and mentally.

Just another lame excuse for yet another Laker loss in Portland. That's the nice thing about winning, you don't have to start fishing for excuses. If it's not the refs, it's the pregame video. Phil's just trying to cover up the fact that his team was once again outplayed in Portland. Yeah, that pregame video forced Kobe to cough up an air ball wit the game on the line.

I'm not sure why the production team deemed it necessary to include that clip. The fans will remember what Ariza did for a long time. I remember going to a game against Philly when Vernon Maxwell was playing for them. He was still booed like mad even years later for his adventure into the stands.

Looks like you'll be fine either way because you already said the Blazers are your second favorite team :ghoti:

Oh wait, that was probably before the Blazers beat the Lakers down for a second straight time :biglaugh:
