Who do you think is better? I will give it to Amare because he hs more range and more highlfying than Shaq was. Amare can also score a lot of points in a couple of games.

I'd take Shaq...He'll dominate you in the paint.

Shaq does have an edge though. He cant be stoped on the post up.

We're talking about a young Shaq here? I'll take Shaq easily. Amare may be more athletic, but a young Shaq could still run the floor well, only he was almost unstoppable in the post. In his early years, he was just a more agile, athletic, and durbable player than now. Guys, he averaged 20+/10+ his first13 years in the league!!!! He's only have a rebound a game off from that now. Check out his stats in his first years:1st- 23.4 ppg, 13.9 rpg, 3.5 bspg.2nd- 29.3 ppg, 13.2 rpg, 2.9 bspg.3rd- 29.3 ppg, 11.4 rpg, 2.4 bspg.ompared to Amare's first years:1st- 13.5 ppg, 8.8 rpg, 1.1 bspg.2nd- 20.6 ppg, 9.0 rpg, 1.6 bspg.3rd- 26 ppg, 8.9 rpg, 1.6 bspg.Amare's stats are impressive, but nothing compared to Shaq's.

Definately Shaq. D-O-M-I-N-A-N-C-E!But I will say this: Amare has all the tools and drive to be better than Shaq, and IMO very well could be.

A young Shaq is a better rebounder, defender, passer, and shot blocker. As for scoring they both are pretty equal.

Amare without a doubt. The guy can score 40+ pts in consecutive games. Problem is, Shaq hasn't really had a playmaker who can do all this for him.

But I'm not saying the Magic didnt have anyone else back then..Amare is more athletic then Shaq obviously.. His rookie year he didnt get those sick scoring numbers obviously due to Marbury who was a Score first then Pass pg, and Marion. I'd still take Shaq because he was very dominant in those days and was a 50 greatest players list,

Actually with the way the NBA is going, I don't think we'll ever see a big man as good as Shaq

I think Amare has every tool to be better than Shaq. His body is a little undersized to be a center, but he still is bulking up. He has a 36 inch jump, which makes him a more dangerous dunker than Shaq. He has more athleticism and far more speed and stamina, which is a huge plus side. He also has a jumper. IMO, with 2-3 more years of learning a little more in post and expanding his ranger a tad like he did last year, he will be unstoppable.

Shaq was a beast when he was young. Just as dominant in the post as he was in his greater years. i saw a tape of his first outing and he was alot quicker as well. More athletic, he was a great, great rebounder and alot more of a defensive threat then Amare.Who do you think? Shaquille O'Neal

Amare can do eveything he wants but there will never be another guy like Shaq. It's not always about game, his off court personality made people love him and say he's the best. Shaq also never optimized himself. That is sad.

There will never be enother Shaq, that is true. But, there will never be quite another MJ. But, there can still be better players than Shaq, even if it means different styles of play. Amare has all the tools. Not saying he is better right now, as Shaq in Orlando was unworldly. But, Amare has ALL the tools, just like Bron has all tools to possibly surpass MJ.

Yes, but Amare has been out all year. You saw what he had improved in is first game. He added a longer jumper and added a few nice little post moves. When he gets his explosivness back....Again, never said he will be better, but has the tools.

Everyone who enters the league has the tools to be great. You are given top tier trainers, top tier facilities, and access to tapes of players to study.
