You mean like, "Kobe would never have missed that shot unless he were fouled, so even though I didn't see a foul, I'm going to call one anyway." Isn't that the kind of stuff that we hate?

    What?

You are saying the shot clock went fast?

He didn't get the shot off until 2.8 anyway

Wouldn't you be pissed if the Blazers lost a playoff game due to this?

I'd be pissed if this cost them the 3rd or 4th seed.

Sure it sucks, but what are we going to do about it? I am still pissed off at losing to Orlando at home many games ago. If we get screwed out of a playoff spot, it won't be that big of a deal. Refs will screw up calls. It only is magnified since it was a close game and the call in question happened with very little time left in the game.

I'm saying that most likely, the scorekeeper reset the shot clock as soon as Beno's shot hit the rim, and that a second rolled off it before Kurt Thomas actually gained possession, so the shot clock wasn't giving the Spurs the full amount of time they were supposed to have.

However, I admit that I did not watch the game, and I'm basing my hypothesis on the ESPN.com play-by-play, so I could very well be way off. I'd like to see a video of the final 30 seconds.

The differential isn't the issue. The issue is exactly how much time was on the clock when Thomas gained possession. If the shot clock started early, then there was a problem.

Is there any chance that the NBA will grant the Kings a replay of the game and possible OT? It is utterly ridiculous that major seeding in the playoffs will be decided by that shot. I thought we were past that.

My point is the game is played by the big red clock, right or wrong, unless the refs stop it to reset it, so someone sitting at a table is no more right, and in terms of the rules is actually less right, than the clock in an official sense.

But, when can then they make up the last 3 seconds? SA and SAC both have games tomorrow, and the playoffs are coming up in less than a week. It's highly unlikely that they have a replay this late in the season.

Like that time when someone was incorrectly DQ'd from a game against the Hawks? I doubt it.

Pretty sure they can only impose fines for the refs if they find them grossly incompetent and then say tough shit.

True that, tomorrow is the one that really counts, there has got to be a record for a 4 way tie for second

I really really doubt the Kings will put forth a winning effort on two consecutive nights. The Spurs didn't even have Ginobli or Duncan. With just Parker, I'm doubtful they're even a playoff team.

Since when did the NBA institue a 25-second shot clock. Maybe I've been mistaken these past two decades, but I thought you were only given 24.....

He's talking about the game clock, not the shot clock. He is saying the game clock had 25 seconds on it when SAS got possession, therefore, getting a shot off with 2.8 second left shouldn't be a 24 second violation.
