I don't remember that deal ever being mentioned. Was there an ESPN article on it?

I could see Prince starting for a few years and then backing up Batum.

It's like we wouldn't lose a step for the next decade. Batum is a virtual clone of Prince.

I can't imagine Detroit considering that deal. Prince is a superior player to Outlaw and a key to their team. He's also young enough to be a building block for their next good team. Rodriguez does not make up the difference.

I agree. But bad deals happen all the time in the NBA. When you have a relatively cheap player who has insane athleticism and a growing rep for clutch shooting, they seem to be more common. If all you saw were the highlight reels of Outlaw and Prince, you'd probably think Outlaw was the better player.

I don't know that it'll happen, but it's got me wondering if there's somebody out there we could sucker into trading some quality for Outlaw.....

Agreed, but Dumars is a fairly competent GM. He's not going to go by highlights. And the title team he built was through what one might call "undervalued" players...Sheed, Ben Wallace, Prince, Billups...until they won a title in Detroit, they were all considered questionable talents in some way or another.

Let's not sell Outlaw completely short. ;) He is a quality player, just no star. He makes plenty of mistakes, but if he didn't, he might be close to a star. As he is, he's a useful player as a pure scorer. Suckering another GM should get Portland a near-star/star player, not just "some quality."

KP could hit a homerun this summer if he's able to land Stephen Curry!
