Just as Jason was starting to get some respect for his "behind the locker room door" articles, he goes and does something like this. This is how he voted for the yearly awards. I think he was trying too hard to look non-biased. http://blog.oregonlive.com/behindblazersbeat/2009/04/how_i_voted_for_nba_postseason.html Brandon Roy was not even in the top 5 in MVP voting, he placed him on the 3rd string behind Deron Williams. What a fucking joke. And Pau Gasol on the 3rd team? I don't think Travis has played well enough to be in consideration for sixth man of the year, he's not even the best player of our bench. What a joke Quick.
Man, I hope Roy ignores Quick for a while. i'm fine with Roy being third team (even though he should be second team)... but if you're moving him down, it should be because of Tony Parker and not Deron Williams.
Do you really think that's how Brandon Roy thinks? I'd be disappointed in Roy if he treated Quick any different than he does right now. It's Quick's right to make that call. I don't agree with it, but what can you do. In the end, nobody will give two shits about what Quick thought about Roy if they can win a championship in the next 3-4 years. I'm sure Roy knows that.
Roy is better than Deron Williams this year. There's really no statistical or rational argument against it, from what I see. No Granger in his top 3 MIP? And it's a quibble, but Kobe at second in MVP? This year is: 1.)Lebron James 1a.)Dwyane Wade and everyone else a couple notches back. CP3 also ought to be above Kobe, IMO... if only because he deserved it more than KB last year.
Frickin' idiot. Deron Williams didn't even make the all-star team. The coaches who vote on the all-star reserves, and know a lot more about basketball than Jason Quick, favored Roy over Williams (again). Roy is statistically better than Williams AND he led his team to a better record. How in the crap does he put Williams ahead of Roy? Idiot! BNM
Who cares if Quick thinks Williams played better. He is entitled to his opinion no matter how wrong he is. Roy would be a big baby if he held this against Quick. At least it isn't extremely ridiculous of a pick like Bargs was over Roy ( F YOU chuck swirsky)
I have a problem with Quick putting Deron Williams ahead of Roy. Roy played in more games, his team won more games, and he plays with less All-Star teammates. Oh, and he made the friggin' All-Star game, while Williams did not. Plus, Quick writes glowingly of Roy's poise and his leadership, and then he craps on him by placing Deron Williams, who does much less with much more at this point, ahead of him on an All-NBA team. Sorry, but Roy should shun him, because Quick appears to be more into himself than he is about educating himself about the NBA.
What a weird All-NBA list... no Tim Duncan? no Paul Pierce? Chris Bosh and Kevin Durant don't deserve All-NBA for being on crappy teams. Quick's got it wrong.
It's his opinion, I also disagree with the Williams/Roy pick, but he IS entitled to it. And we're advocating Roy playing a childish game w/ him over hurt feelings? I'm hoping the blazers are more mature than that crap....
I am also entitled to say that I disagree, and I've basically been a "Quick defender" on these boards, so it's not like I am always bashing the guy. While I want Roy to shun him, at the very least I hope Brandon goes and asks Quick why he put Deron Williams ahead of him on an All-NBA team. Plus, in light of Quick promising to be even more open in his Behind the Locker Room Door articles, now that "they are all on the same page", I would hope the players limit his access, because it appears he spends more times palling around than he does watching games.
I don't really have a problem with any of his picks, nothing to deserve this kind of reaction. Doesn't mean I agree with all of them completely. Don't know if it's been posted yet, but here's 20 'experts' picks on ESPN. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?page=ROY-0809 Roy got two votes for most improved. Travis got two votes for 6th man. Nate got one pick for COY. Looks like Lebron is a lock for MVP.
I am amazed that there are people who think that Dwyane Wade deserves it over him. Look at James' numbers on a normal team and he's probably MVP this season. Put him on a 67-win team with one alternate All-Star as a teammate? It should be the biggest MVP lock in memory.
Well, I think Brandon is a top 5 player in the NBA. At they very least, he's more valuable than Chauncy freakin Billups. I mean, come on, that was an obvious attempt to look non-biased. I hate it when people are not genuine...but what do I know, maybe he really thinks that. But it's hard to understand, since he would have watched Roy single handedly win many games for us this year. Roy has taken over and scored in the clutch so many times this season...he's easily a top 5 talent.
WTF is this? Is he trying to get some cred by trying NOT to be a homer? In the end he just looks like an ass.
The Nuggets would not be the 2nd seed without Billups. Billups came in for Iverson and totally changed that team. Could you argue Roy deserves MVP over Billups? Sure. But is it a big deal if Billups is mentioned ahead of Roy? Not at all. The Nuggets have a better seed than the Blazers and Billups is arguably the main reason why.
Billups is not a top 5 MVP candidate. I know the Nuggets may have the #2 seed but they've only won one more game than us. Roy is better than Billups and he has done it without another All Star. Billups has Melo. And it's so stupid to put DWill ahead of Roy. Ridiculous.
