Quick is getting more and more annoying. First of all, who the fuck cares about his ballot? And what's up with him copy pasting all the ballot, especially the parts with "You have been chosen by the National Basketball Association to serve on a committee to vote for the"... Geez, really, you're that important? On second thought, I'm glad he posted his votes, sheds further light on his stupidity.

Then he follows up with basically telling the readers that they are pathetic losers who have nothing better to do than criticize his picks? Then why the fuck did he post them?

Well, it backfired in this case. His vote of Deron Williams over Brandon Roy for 2nd team all-NBA reveals his stupidity and lack of knowledge of the game he's paid to cover. He's gone from beat writer to gossip columnist. Evidently, informing his readers about which player has the stinkiest farts or longest lasting erection is more suited to his talents as a writer than actually covering what goes on on the basketball court. He has supposedly been watching the Blazers all season - covering every game. How could he possibly NOT see the impact Brandon Roy's play has had on this team? Voting for Williams over Roy is a totally clueless move by someone who should, but apparently doesn't, know better.

And then asking the league for a mulligan so he could change his vote from Durant to Duncan further highlights his stupidity and unprofessionalism.

Why is everyone so up in arms over what Jason Quick thinks? It's not his job to be a homer; it's to be a reporter. He's entitled to his opinion. Given the way the Jazz are playing at the most important part of the season, I disagree with his choice of D. Williams over Roy, but it's not like he chose Sasha Vujacic. A legitimate case can be made for Deron.

I noticed that Joe Freeman (his job too though), Geoffrey Arnold (NBA writer for the O), and even Ryan White ("Tailgate" opinion writer) have written the game articles in the Oregonian the past few weeks. Perhaps Quick has another job lined up or is about to be downsized, and perhaps knowledge of this is causing him to act like a clueless fool by first picking Williams over Roy, and then mocking the criticism of his stupid pick by asking the league for a do over on his Durant selection instead of his stupid Williams selection.

Make that case, since Quick didn't.

Because he's given the privilege to vote for these awards. His vote counts. If he's going to publish his votes to the world, he better be able to defend them. At least when Chuck pulled a Swirsky, he attempted to justify his vote and explained his reasons behind picking Bargnani over Roy for ROY.

If Quick makes a stupid choice, and then is dumb enough to publicize his stupidity, he deserves to be called on it. I'm still curious to hear his "logic" behind picking Williams over Roy.

I don't really care about awards or who he voted for. I just think his explanation is really, really....weird.

What the heck does he mean, he "never said it was the right choice"? So he may have voted for someone he knows is the wrong choice? And if he doesn't care if its the right choice or not, why bother changing the Durant pick to Duncan?

I guess from now on, whenever Quick posts something, I'll have to remember that he's never actually saying its "right".

How???? Roy has significantly better individual stats AND he has led his team to 4 (possibly 5) more victories. Utah has underachieved. As a veteran team, their 15-26 road record is pathetic. You can try to play the injury card, but that doesn't cut it. Utah plummeted from 1st in the NW and 3rd overall seed to 3rd in the NW and 8th seed overall AFTER everyone on their roster was healthy. With a healthy roster, complete with two all-stars plus Quick's choice for 2nd team all-NBA, Utah is limping into the play-offs after losing 7 of their last 10.

The Blazers, on the other hand, a very young team, exceeded all reasonable expectations, overachieved and finished the season strong - winning 9 of their last 10. And Roy's play and leadership is the biggest reason.

Chill the fuck out. What does being named to some mythical team matter? I never said I agreed with it, but it's not like picking one of the best PGs in the league who played most of the year without much help is unreasonable. I would have picked Roy, but Quick is entitled to his opinion. Frankly, I applaud his willingness to take shit from people who are silly enought to think this vote actually matters.

You all are free to care about meaningless awards. I'll be watching the playoffs.

In other words, no argument can be made for this, and what Bill Simmons writes is worth responding to, but who the local beat writer votes for is not. :dunno:

Deron Williams is a great player. But he did miss 14 games this year, which isn't his fault but . . . where would Utah have finished if he'd played say, 78 games (like Roy will have this year)?

I imagine Quick would have put him on the 1st team with his 19th-best PER in the league.

But Deron is Deron. Roy's just....yellow Mamba or something.

IMO, Roy gets dropped for letting a) Outlaw talk him into thinking that name was a good idea and b) for letting Quick publish it. I though Webster's "Baby K*be" thing made me want to hurl..."yellow mamba"? Seriously?

Actually, I don't care to make an argument because this issue is stupid and pointless.

Clearly it's not stupid and pointless to some posters here. I don't think your writings about the Simmons article are stupid and pointless, since you obviously took the time to construct an argument to combat what Simmons wrote.
