I cant help but laugh at myself sometimes. I seem to have bad luck when it comes to my sport teams so I have to be very careful. I know deep down inside that what I do really has no effect on what happens but it sure feels like it does so I take it serious. For example due to my bad luck in the past I can NEVER EVER :tsktsk: talk trash or even get cocky/confident before or during a Blazers game. I can also NEVER EVER :tsktsk: wear any Blazer clothing on game day or even Blazer colors within my clothes that day. In fact sometimes I will go out of my way to wear something that has our opponents colors to bring them bad luck.

But its also part of the fun of the sport for me as a fan so what superstitions do you guys have?

I don't record games. They always lose when I do.

I'm not very superstitious, but I'm not changing my Blazer boxers until we win a title.

I had one unlucky shirt. Just an ordinary Blazers shirt. They ALWAYS lost when I wore it. I could be at the game, watching on TV, listening on the radio, or not watching/listening at all. They lost. When I watched the All Star game, the West (with 2 Blazers) lost. Preseason game, they lost. Once they were playing Dallas at home. This was the year that Dallas nearly tied for worst record in NBA history. I figured that would SURELY break the Curse of the T Shirt.

The Blazers, a playoff team, lost at home to a team that ended up with, I think 12 victories.

The shirt became a cleaning rag.

I had a few good luck charms, my cats-eye and a lucky shirt. They all lost their spell in Staples Center on a cursed June day in 2000. I guess the LA smog clogged up the good luck.

I am not normally superstitious but I do have one ritual. The first time (it does not always happen) that the Blazers go up by one point, I say, out loud, "win or tie the rest of the game". Because if they win or tie the rest of the game from that point, they end up with a W. I'll take a one point win, I'm not proud.

Agree that it does not affect the outcome, it's more like calming myself down. Like patting my car on the dashboard in really bad weather or when driving over Mount Ashland.

Those are awesome -- love the cursed Blazer shirt cleaning rag! My superstitions are a bit more mild. If I happen to tune into a game on my way home from work, and the Blazers suddenly go cold, I always turn the game back off for a few minutes. (Clearly my listening to the game was causing a distraction for them.)

I also have a set of free-throw jinxes that have proven reasonably effective against opposing teams, as long as I perform them the correct way, don't use up their power too often, and only use them on poor to mediocre free throw shooters.

I'm a fucking wreck when it comes to superstitions with the team. With all of my sports teams, really. I have been since I was about 9. I remember watching Braves games growing up, and they would score a run while I happened to be sitting indian style, in an awkward stance. Well, god forbid I moved from that position. I'd go 6 innings of annopying pain, and a completely asleep leg because of it. But can't risk screwing up the run. I consistently cross and uncross my hands, fingers, legs, toes depending on how we are doing. I sit in similar positions until things go wrong. My wife isn't allowed to come in the room to watch agame if they are doing well without her, and give up easy baskets with her in the room. I missed the majority of our comeback in the 4th against NO this season because I went upstairs to start dinner, and we started our comeback. Couldn't risk my cooking dinner being the reason they were coming back. It's painful and annoying, and deep deep deep down, i know it doesn't affect anything, but then again......

So yeah, I'm a little OCD.

My Blazer boxers have just about had it. I want some more, but every time I look in the stores in the Rose Garden I can't find any. Where can I get some?

Last season during the 13 game win streak, KP wore his pink tie. During the streak in the TV truck, I would highlight our rundown for the show with black and red sharpee. No joke, when we went to Utah going for #14, I forgot to do it. I'm sure it had to do with where we were playing though, not me. During the game/show I have my laptop open for stats. I'm sure this sounds weird, if we are getting hammered, I will take my wedding ring off and put it on the corner of my laptop, seems to have helped us a couple times this year. I did it at NOLA and SA and at home vs Boston. Don't know where it started, but we would be getting our butts kicked, I'll look down see that I forgot to take off the ring.

When I watch the Blazers on TV and they're doing well, I tend not to try to move from where I'm sitting. Whey they stink it up, it's time to move to a different spot.

Everything I did between 2002 and 2005 was clearly pretty unlucky. So I don't do those things anymore.

Me too. During the SA game, I moved from the living room to the office around 9:30 left in the second quarter. I turned on the radio, and listened as the Blazers mounted their comeback. I didn't return to the living room until the game was over.
