After watching him practice, there’s no way,” Rivers said on WEEI-AM. “The way I saw him move today, I don’t know if he’ll be ready.” When asked to clarify, Rivers said there was a chance Garnett could be out for the rest of the season. Celtics spokesman Jeff Twiss said he could not elaborate on Rivers’ comments. The Celtics begin the best-of-seven first round series against the Chicago Bulls on Saturday. “We’re going to move on without him,” Rivers said.

If he's healthy next year, there's still another year left in this team. Rondo's continued ascension will account for minor fall-offs from Ray and KG (I doubt Pierce sees a real decline). Alternatively, we could take a risk, unload Ray's expiring, and try to lure another star in Boston in 2010, and extend our run further. Doubt that happens though.
Even if Boston only gets one title out of their deals last year it would be totally worth it. Though with all the miles on KG, I don't know if he is ever going to be physically right ever again. Unfortunately, he is signed until 2012 I think.
Exactly. I do think about what could have been sometimes (trading Pierce for #3 in 2005, then picking Chris Paul and teaming him with Al Jefferson), but the ultimate goal was reached, if only once.
