Wawaweewah!! http://www.82games.com/0809/ONSORT5.HTM seems appropos that I got this off of 82games.com in light of his first complete season.
Hell ya. Damn good for having a fractured wrist for ~20 games? Hope we have him and Oden as our centers for a long time to come.
to be fair part of the problem is that the results are skewed because those guys are playing on bad squads (except D-Will which surprised the hell out of me.) Here's a slightly better way of showing just defense and not the net effect each has. (that bottom six still come out smelling like a pile of dookie). http://www.82games.com/0809/ONSORT4.HTM
Travis isn't the savior of the Blazer franchise. They're both in the top 1/5th. Though, Durant would be a nice sparkplug off the bench!
Hmm, interesting statistics. Did you notice all of the Jazz players near the bottom of the list? If these are on court/off court stats, then it's really a sign of how much better they are at defense than the guys behind them, I didn't even seen Oden listed there. Also, Travis has a negative number for both offense AND a positive for defense. Which means he's negatively affecting the Blazers at both ends. Also interesting to note the defensive difference between Bibby and Andre Miller. Bibby is near the bottom of that list, Miller near the top.
You got it backwards my man. It shows that they're WORSE defensively than the men behind them, which is not surprising considering the Jazz bring AK and Milsap of the bench who are both much better defensively than Brewer (one of the most overrated defenders in the league by the national media) and Boozer who has been an average defender during his career, but has been downright horrible coming back from injury this year on D. And Oden is not listed because he hasn't played 35% of whatever 48 times 82 is, as in minutes played this year.
I know that for the Jazz, I was talking about in general, the stat reveals how much better they are than the 2nd unit. But looking at the talent there, it seems to be a pretty accurate measure. We Blazer fans all know what a good defender Joel is, but you never hear people talk about him as though he's one of the best defenders in the league. But of course, it's not perfect, Kyle Korver has a better rating than Dwight Howard, who suprisingly, is only at -1.
Przybilla makes USA Today's inaugural "All-Rambis Team" for hustle players, for whatever that's worth.
They were saying he has the best +/- on OUR team from a certain point this season(can't remember when). Lebron James has the best +/- and it isn't even close. http://www.nba.com/statistics/plusminus/plusminus_sort.jsp?pcomb=1&season=22008&split=9&team=
I'm pretty sure he mentioned how Blake fit in league wide. Like he was 1st on our team and 2nd or 5th league wide.
Well I'm pretty sure you heard wrong. If you want you can look at the last ten games and Blake isn't even the 4th best Blazer in +/- http://www.nba.com/statistics/plusminus/plusminus_sort.jsp?pcomb=1&season=22008&split=22&team= Edit: It may have been adjusted plus/minus but I don't know where you could look that up.
Travis is a backup coming in when our good players are out - we already know he is not as good as the first unit - especially because he often comes to carry the load while Roy/LMA are resting. This is actually not a knock on Travis. His minus compared to his super-star team-mates is actually not bad at all... The real problem for OKC is that Durant just stinks when you look at his overall offense+defense impact. The sad state of affairs is that if basketball was played like football with an offensive unit and a defensive unit - Durant would be a superstar on the offensive unit - but since basketball is a 2-way game - he is such a sieve defensively - that even his magnificent offense does not compensate... Remember the mantra - one of them will be an impact player on contenders - the other will win scoring titles. KP - despite his baptist preacher-like disposition at times - seem to know exactly what he is talking about. For the record - I do not accept the "he is on a bad team" thing as well - because if you look at Jeff Green - his net minus is a lot smaller than Durants (and he plays 37 MPG vs. Durant's 39) - and Westbrook (at 33 MPG) is actually a positive...
Blake is second on the team and 42nd in the NBA. http://www.nba.com/statistics/plusm...=1&season=22008&split=9&team=&pager.offset=25
