although i have never seen them, i feel they are pretty much self descriptive. cones that shoot flames? im all for them, but only if they light a fire under the blazers asses.
the fire towers outside the arena? If so, those are a no-go. I heard they are out of order and like a 600,000 dollar repair.
If you don't know what I am talking about, you are a Blazer playoff newbie, which is not a bad thing mind you. I believe it started in 2000, but during introductions the Blazers had these flame cones things on wheels. They would fire them off when they introduced the players. It was actually pretty funny because my seats are front row on the 300 level, and let me tell you that when they would fire them off you could feel the heat up there. I am in the endzone mind you.
They started doing them for every game, and then stopped. They lost their cool when they became an "every game" thing.
I think I heard Todd Bosma on Wheels at Work say that the NBA doesnt allow them to use them anymore because something bad happened at another arena.
Not a newbie, and I've seen those at games but didn't connect them with the name. Pretty sure a couple hundred dead concert-goers in that club that burned down a few years ago kind of "put a damper" on that stuff.
I live literally 2000 feet away from that club. It was pretty tiny and not up to fire code. I hope that wouldn't stop them from using the flame cones in a giant arena.
