Vaseline was rubbed on Silva's face before entering the Octagon for his fight with Thales Leites on Saturday. In this gif, courtesy of BloodyElbow.com, you can see Silva wipe the Vaseline from his face into his hands and then rub it onto his chest and arms. Not only that, but he turns his back to the officials before he does it, which makes it seem even more deliberate. No word yet on whether Leites' camp gives a damn.

So UFC referee Yves Lavigne, who officiated the Silva/Leites bout, saw what happened, wiped Silva down with a towel, and then got Leites' approval before starting the match. And, in one fell swoop, redeemed himself completely for fucking up the Matt Brown/Pete Sell fight a few weeks ago.
