    I can't believe this isn't a bigger story.

How can McGrady believe his days in Houston are done? He's got one more year on his deal and he's going to make $23 million. Who's going to trade for him this summer? A guy coming off microfracture slated to make $23 million isn't exactly a hot item on the trade blocks. You can bet he'll be coming to training camp as a Rocket next season and have to face all those guys he picked against.

Look, you can't fault his opinion - most everybody thinks the Lakers will win the West. But you DON'T SAY THAT IN AN INTERVIEW while you're own team is still alive! I'm reading between the lines, but I don't think this was by mistake. I think he's bitter that Houston may be headed for their first playoff series victory (since he's been there) and he's not a part of it - He has been much maligned for not getting to the 2nd round. I just don't believe he's stupid enough to say what he said on accident.

Don't be shocked if McGrady retires. He's certainly got enough money, he's never seemed to have much heart, and he's thirty coming of the MF surgery. Put a fork in him, he's done.

I'd be shocked if he left 23 million on the table.

That's a TON of jack Nik.

Who turns down a guaranteed $23 million, even if they already have a ton of money? Money is one of those things you can never have enough of.

I don't see him retiring until his contact is at least up.

Medical retirement with the MF surgery (if he demonstrates an inability to play) will guarantee his salary.

Edit: Just wanted to add he's going to be rehabbing for most of the rest of his contract.

The Rockets are better without him anyway. I know all the ex-players who are analysts now hate to say it because they're probably buddies with him, but Houston doesn't need him to be successful.

Yeah but doesn't he have to make a legit attempt to come back? He can't just sit at home this summer and say "Well, my knee still hurts from surgery so I don't want to play next year. But I still want my Money" . . . can he?

That seems like a pretty subjective judgment, just look at Darius.

A lot of it will come down to how much he wants to come back, and insurance is probably going to be picking up the majority of his salary (80% I believe) so it's not like the Rockets are taking a bath by having him stay away. But don't forget the recovery time is going to be at least 12 months which puts him coming back sometime next February or March at the very earliest.

You should be scared. Everything Tmac touches turns to shit.

Were I a Houston fan I would be very, very pissed at KneeMac.

Wow. I can't believe he said that. He obviously doesn't consider himself a Rocket anymore. Does he sit with them on the bench? I don't think he did, did he?
