Its amazing how these 2 guys almost beat us last night. WHEN THE HELL DID VON WAFER BECOME THIS GOOD? Its like i have to remind myself this was a guy who was at the end of the blazers and nuggets benches. He couldnt shoot t save his life last year in portland. And brooks... does he miss from 3? he made like 4 in a row within the final minute last night.

Am i missing something... cmon these guys cant be this good.

Brooks was held in check pretty well.. only had like 14 with 30 seconds to go.

Brooks has been playing out of his mind, but with Wafer I think he just needed a legit opportunity; he had a helluva stroke when he was in the D-league, so I'm not shocked it's come back around with a solid role and enough minutes. Good for Von (I guess).

listen... i can live with Yao or Artest torching us and winning the series.... but i cant sit till next october knowing we got beat BY AARON BROOKS, VON WAFER, AND CARL LANDRY.

I mean... those guys should not be the reason we lose a playoff game.

However if we do lose this series because of those guards.... it pretty much seals blakes fate as our starter. Wonder what Andre Miller is doing next season?

Landry sucks. It was Lowrey that was hurting us with Wafer and Brooks, but that's what you do. You make their roles players beat you. More often than not, if you shut down Yao and Artest, you beat the Rockets. Brooks and Wafer can't shoot that well for the whole series.

Von Wafer did win us a game last year. From the reports I heard he displayed this level of skill in practice on a regular basis. But he was really lazy. Running drills slow, doing the bare minimum of weight room and other fitness related activity. Maybe something just clicked for him in Houston.

Or maybe he's the same guy, and the Rockets tolerate it.

Wafer barely made the last spot on the team. He wasn't even in the rotation in the beginning of the season. He just needed a good team, good minutes to prove himself in the NBA. And I think the Rockets were just a perfect team for him. Aaron Brooks was always good, he played behind Rafer Alston for much of his career. But the Rockets took a big step by trading Alston because they trusted and believed Brooks could lead this team. He has proven to the them that he is capable of being a leader of this team. I understand where you're coming from, because Brooks/Wafer have been doing a lot of damage.

I'm not shocked at how well these players have played. If you're an NBA guard, you can play. I don't care if you're the 15th man on the bench. These guys are quick, have good handles, nice jumpers, and are athletic. When so much of the defense is focused on stopping Yao, a world of options opens up for them.

Why they are scoring well, I think the Blazers have not done a very good job at attacking these guys. Half of the reason these guys are looking so good is they are not having to defend. Defending is the weak part of their game.

Wow - I didn't realize Von Wafer was good enough to get away with an attitude like that. He didn't try b/c he didn't want to be here? Must have been his prolific 1.3 career ppg (when he arrived here)

You'd think he'd feel lucky to even be on the roster.

I would also like to point out that part of ther reason these guys have been doing so well, is because the Blazers seem to not have a lot of "Nasty" in them right now. If Von Wafer came down the lane and one of our bigs put him on his back, maybe this shit would stop. Where is that nasty team that beat Boston without Roy? Where is that nasty team that put down LA twice at home. Put him on his back. Quit playing with Von Wafer like he is a guy you knew from when he was here. He is the enemy. Put him on his back.

Think of it in the tradition of Robert Pack or Brian Williams...some guys just step up.

I'm with Mixum on this one...seems that every scrub on Houston plays out of their minds against us. That's why we have such a hard time beating them! Their backups play neck and neck with our starters!!!

Is Von Wafer on a 1 year minimum contract . . . if he is, I think his life is going to change this summer.

I haven't follwed Von Wafer's career, but I figure after last year, he was almost on his way out of the NBA. And now, if he continues even half of what he has been doing in the playoffs, that he is looking at a multi-yr contract well over the minimum salary.

Wafer clearly hates us and he is the player on the Rockets' roster that scares me the most for the rest of this series. Someone has to put a stop to him. He wants to dunk on us every time down the floor.

Both players had similar games against the Lakers towards the end of the season.
