This was actually a regular post, but I'll seperate it, anyway... I made the article MYSELF, and just now...Now, here's how the MVP candidate stuff works out...There are the idiots who think their team's best player deserves it a lot (Kobe fans, AI fans, LeBron fans, etc.)... then there are....SMART people, who know the MVP is only going to belong to those who mix talent in with good team play.Kobe does not do that, AI does not do that, LeBron has not been able to consistently handle it. Only a handul players in the league HAVE...-Chauncey Billups-Tim Duncan-Shawn Marion-Steve Nash-Dirk Nowitzki-Rip Hamilton-Tony Parker-Dwyane WadeLook at this list, I can already eliminate Duncan. Why? Because he's won the MVP twice, lowering votes for him this season.See, the reason I'm ALWAYS right is because I actually think like an analyst, not always like an obsessed fan, even though I can and still be right. That leaves us with...-Chauncey Billups-Rip Hamilton-Shawn Marion-Steve Nash-Dirk Nowitzki-Tony Parker-Dwyane WadeRip goes out simply because there's too much talent on Detroit, and Chauncey is the MVP candidate from Detroit.-Chauncey Billups-Shawn Marion-Steve Nash-Dirk Nowitzki-Tony Parker-Dwyane WadeTony Parker isn't going to win it simply because he's just not the guy, if you can understand what I mean. He's not even the best Spur on the team, and the best isn't a STRONG, STRONG candidate, so that's why Parker isn't one, as well.Now...-Chauncey Billups-Shawn Marion-Steve Nash-Dirk Nowitzki-Dwyane WadeChauncey Billups has to pretty much go out because Detroit's starting lineup is almost even. Rasheed, Prince, Rip, and Billups all compliment eachother, so for Chauncey, it'll be VERY tough...-Shawn Marion-Steve Nash-Dirk Nowitzki-Dwyane Wade[color]Let's make Steve Nash and Marion into one contender, and we'll leave that for later. Let's talk about Dwyance Wade, now...Wade is definitely playing like an MVP, exploding since the All-Star Break, winning-wise, as well, and Miami looked very tough. However, Wade's losses against the elite teams are going to make him lose the race. Now, we have three guys...-Shawn Marion-Steve Nash-Dirk NowitzkiObviously, Marion isn't winning it, but there are two views to this argument.Let's look at Nash's case first...Steve Nash has played without Amare Stoudemire, basically a 26-10 guy, to be replaced with a player, even though playing very well at center, has not played like Amare.Nash is still averaging a double-double with assists, which is almost impossible to get, unless passing better than even a super-star!Nash is only getting his MVP case on one side of the court, but Phoenix has proven they can win lots of games and make it far in the playoffs while doing so.Let's take a look at Dirk's case...Nowitzki is a great passer (don't look at the stats, watch him), great scorer (48% FG, 42% 3FG, 90% FT), great rebounder (10 RPG in March), and even a great defender. Now, why is Nowitzki a good defender? Simple. He's very high in the Tendex Defensive Ratings, which I will provide a link for a little later. Also, watch Dirk on defense, and you'll see he is RARELY scored on. He's an excellent pick-and-roll defender to add on to that. The only problem is that Nash is getting more attention, but here is Dirk's most vital case...Raja Bell is better than Adrian Griffin.Shawn Marion is better than Josh Howard.Boris Diaw is better than Diop or Damp. And if you look at Dallas's Dirk Nowitzki, Jason Terry, and Josh Howard, and Phoenix's Steve Nash, Shawn Marion, and Raja Bell, you'll see that Dirk is MORE talented than Jason Terry and Josh Howard than NASH IS MORE TALENTED than Shawn Marion or Bell! What I'm trying to say is that...Dirk's talent has a larger gap between the second best player on Dallas (Jason Terry) than Steve Nash's talent gap between the second best player on his team (Shawn Marion). That's why Dirk has a strong chance, still.SO WE COME TO THE END, REALIZING...The race is between Dirk and Nash!!
Kobe and Nash, with Nash having advantage. Kobe has done amazing things this season. Historical things. Without his historical season with scoring, Lakers would be a lottery team. They need his to score so many point per game. BUT, Nash is making players like Boris Diaw and Eddie House look like all stars. His 10APG and 20PPG are making his teammates amazingly better and giving his team a chance to win, and win very much so.My MVP is nash.
I don't know how you could put marion and Rip into this discussion at all. It's between Nash, Wade, and Dirk.
Your whole post could have been summed up by:A recent ESPN Analyst Poll showed Steve Nash winning the MVP by a landslide with a month remaining in the regular season
I feel that nash, Kobe, Bron, and Dirk will all get tons of votes. But I think Nash deserves MVP most, and I feel voters will feel the same.
Nash is my MVP. Look what he turned Boris Diaw into. He is now a 10-10 guy who can get triple-doubles and can play both foward and guard. Everyone that comes to the Suns turns into better players then they really are. Thats something nobody else in the league does (Well Kidd but hes not in MVP talk). I hope Nash wins it again, back to back baby.
The race is only between Nash and Dirk. Why people think Wade and Kobe should win it is mind-boggling. Although those two will get some votes, they definitely do not deserve to win the award this year, no matter how you look at it.Nash is the clear favorite right now, and I do believe he will repeat as the NBA's Most Valuable Player.
Actually the one guy who I think became good without Nash is Boris Diaw. Diaw doesn't hit open shtos much, and creates for himself and tammates alot. Besides that QRIch's success last year, Joe Johnson's success last year, Eddie House, Raja Bell, Leandro Barbosa, Tim Thomas owe alot to Stevie
Big mO- ^Are you kidding me? Kobe is having most PPG since Jordan in '88, has 17 games between 40-49 points, 2 games between 50-59 points, 2 games between 60-81 points, and 25 games between 30-39 points. He is by far most valuable to team, as without him they are lottery. He is leading his crap team to 7th seed in playoffs, and without him scoring at least 35PPG, they lose.
QUOTE

Nash is my MVP. What could I say lol no jk thanks. Tottally agree about what you said about Kobe. Its not like hes going out there shooting and scoring so much because he wants to and hes a ball hog. If he didnt shoot and score so much, where would the Lakers go? They have no other chioce.

I believe Kobe should be included in the debate, but I don't think he should win it.As for Wade... he's having a nice second half of the season, but he shouldn't even be considered as a top three candidate to win the award.
What kobe needs to win mvp is to drop 80 or maybe even 100. Now you may laugh but i really don't think kobe's finished with the buisness of scoring. I'll wait and see what happens....
The Lakers are only 3 games above .500, so Kobe is not in the race.Couldn't somebody at least give a nice article comment? Lol...Seriously, though, it's all Dirk and Nash. I'll make a Kobe sig and a MAVERICKS SUCK text on every post if Kobe wins it or gets 2nd place.
