Whatever... you guys got what you wanted. 24 foul shots to our 10. Pretty amazing that you almost lost. Rockets are fucking terrible. You're going to get owned in the second round and I'm going to laugh.

I'd need to see the replay. Perhaps. I think JVG said it wasn't a foul, and he usually has a good eye about these things.

8 of those free throws came at the end of the game, though. Before that point -- 12 to 10.

The Blazers are a good team, they'll make the proper adjustments, and I think the Rockets will have to play much better in game 4 if they want to win.

Do you honestly believe Houston committed 1 foul in the fourth quarter (discounting Scola intentionally using the foul to give)?

Keep an eye out for an article like this in the Houston papers:

According to a report in the Houston Chronicle, the Rockets are frustrated with where the Trailblazers three point line is situated.

“They were very close to the hoop,” coach Rick Adelman said. “The three pointers they took had a reasonable chance of going in. The made some three point shots near the end, and golly-gee-wiz, we almost lost the game ... If the officials are going to allow them to shoot three pointers like they did, we’ve got to find an answer for that.”

Added Yao: “I know coach has complained to the league for me. I just have to do my job.”

Adelman said the three pointers were inconsistent.

“In the last six minutes, they must have made like a billion threes,” he said.

I don't recall any blatant fouls by the Rockets that weren't called, but perhaps you can point some of them out. There was definitely contact (on both sides, btw) that wasn't whistled a foul, but that's normal in a playoff game.

Except it was being called on one end, and not the other. One example is when Ron Artest pushed off at the top of the key in order to get a loose ball. Brandon Roy did the same thing and was called for an offensive foul. Ron was not.

I thought there were a lot of odd calls, but again, the bottom line was that Portland wasn't prepared in the first half. I think it's a great series, though, from a basketball fan perspective -- lots of drama and entertaining twists.

Are you talking about the play where Ron knocked it loose, and was chasing after it? Arguably that's a loose ball foul, but the refs will often let a little contact go in a scrum for a loose ball. Personally, I don't like a foul being called in that situation, but I can understand Blazers fans being frustrated with it.

I don't remember the Roy offensive foul.

    Battier being "fouled."

For me, the worst calls in the game were Roy supposedly being out of bounds (how the fuck do you blow that one? either you see it or you don't), Prz's "tech," and Oden's 4th "foul" on Yao. Utter bullshit, I have no problem with the refs letting the big guys play physical, but either call it or don't on both ends. Why the fuck does Oden get screwed over by the refs, they were bending over backwards for LeBron, Carmelo, Wade, et all their rookie seasons.

This game again? Portland scored 85 points and they averaged 99 during the regular season. Roy and Aldridge need to step up and make plays.

Game 4 in Houston is the biggest game thus far in the series.

WHO CARES? Blake had 2 chances to tie the game. He missed, game 4 is on Sunday.

Well that doesn't sound too bad, I'd definitely take that on a road playoff game.

Fuck you - it's the Rockets that are openly campaigning for calls through the media.

Heh... Yup, and then after that one's over, game 5 will be the biggest game thus far in the series...

who cares? probably the person who said:
I just provided the replay, looked like he didn't get touched to me, but then again that happens all the time at the end of a game when a team is trying to foul. There were far worse calls tonight.

Thanks for your fascinating insights, though. Please, feel free to take your "sk8board" and shove it right up your ass.

A lot of cranky kids in Oregan staying up past their bed time.

The Blazers had ESPN bitching with them about the officiating last week when the Rockets obliterated the TrailiBlazers.

Game 4 is bigger than game 5 for both teams. If the Rocekts go up 3-1, with 3 chances to win 1 game the series is over. If Portland ties it 2-2 with the next 2/3 in Portland, they have a good chance to win the series.

There were a lot of calls that JVG questioned that went against the Blazers in Game 3. But the blazers had their opportunities down the stretch. I think the Blazers got a fair shake from the refs. Some inexplicable calls in my opinion like the Pryz tech. Overall I was pretty happy with how the Blazers played, particularly in the 2nd half. It seemed like Scola just kept hitting the front rim and got the roll. It seemed like that happened 3 times at least in the game. If I was Houston I would be a little nervous about Game 4. The fact that Roy and Aldridge played so horrible yet was close in the game has me optimistic about game 4. But who knows. I think you are right. Game 4 is going to be huge.

The reason it doesn't sound too bad is because some people can't do simple math.

    24 - 8 = 16, not 12.

So, for the game the Rockets out shot the Blazers from the line 24 - 10.

Until the last minute FT parade, the Rockets had a 16 - 10 advantage. Not huge, but more than the incorrectly stated 12 - 10.
