Is there any doubt that Rudy would have hit a three to tie the game if he had been given the ball?

They weren't tired, because we are riding them too hard, they were tired because Houston makes it bloody difficult to score.

But I'm sure you're right, all this team needs is a low percentage shooter at the point who has trouble finishing at the rim because he can't jump, so the Rockets can sag off even more into the passing lanes and dare him to shoot.

If this was a gambling undisciplined defense like Denver then you might be right that Sergio could very well be the prescription, but this just isn't the series for him.

All that says is who he was on the floor with at the time was most successful. Nothing else.

You wouldn't know it from looking at the box scores, but I think Greg actually outplayed Yao when the two were on the court, he fronted him to perfection.

Judging from the way he hit that 3 with Lowry up in his grill, I'd say the odds of him missing would have been about 10%

Greg is getting better as the series wears on. You wouldn't know it if you looked at the boxscore, but he's learning how to play. Unfortunately he's still getting the bullshit calls against him.

I can just picture Blake passing him the ball, Rudy giving a head fake, stepping back, and nailing a three to tie. I can see it in my head. Too bad Blake pulled a Lone Ranger on us.

True. Very true. Problem is, in my brain I could keeps track of all the lopsided regular foul calls. The phantom tech sticks in my mind because it came out of nowhere like Joaquin Phoenix's rap career.

Sure you would. But you look at Yao's box score instead of Portlands. 7 points. Enough said.

I prefer the game in your head. Can you switch the two?

I would have been completely fine with Blake taking the shot if he'd taken the time to get set! He got his feet set the next time down and nailed the shot! Blake is a very good three-point shooter - he just rushed the damn shot for no reason.

That's this team's main problem right now.

Trying to guess what Nate will change next and trying to adjust to it mid-game.

HEY NATE! IT WASN'T BROKE SO DON'T TRY TO FIX IT! :tsktsk:

Those dozen or so minutes of Sergio, and Jerryd, not only provide a change of pace in which the other bench players thrive and opponents are forced to adjust to, they also provide a few minutes of rest for our starters to stay at the top of their game. The small defensive mistakes that may or may not occur once in awhile are a drop in the bucket compared to the offensive advantage we gain by them playing.

But that's the part that doesn't make sense... we had 16 seconds.... why did he rush it? Blake acted like there was five seconds.

This team has won a lot of second halves over this season, but what good does it do when they get blown away so badly in the first so often? Leads the league in comeback victories being down ten or more? Yeah, that says some good things about this team, but how many times do we have to see them give such an advantage to the other team? Apparently two more if they're not careful.

Exactly. You can point to this mistake, or that. Or this bad call. Etc. The problem was the Blazers didn't play 4 quarters. They played 2. They were outrebounded in the first half. They were not closing out. They were not hustling. Top it off with both small forwards pretty much throwing in a doughnut, and you have a problem, because they hardly even get any attention if they are not a threat.

    Blazer basketball:

    1. Execution in half court.
    2. Rebound the ball. #2 in the league offensivly, but in this series you wouldn't know it.
    3. Defense. Build the wall. Last game the wall was being built. This game I didn't see one defensive wall get built until near the end of the 3rd quarter.

    Sorry you didnt win. :ghoti:
And ... since you lost, go ahead and blame it on the refs too. Honestly, most fans will when they lose instead of accepting their team got outplayed. Rockets outplayed Blazers in game 1, Blazers outplayed in game 2, Rockets outplayed in game 3. Simple as that. I thought the reffing sucked game 2, but thats because Rockets lost, its natural.
