Really...Is that a foul....Or is that just him losing the ball out of bounds?

You're right. He just fell. Bad call by the refs.

Ugh.. probably more heartbreaking was seeing Rudy curl around to get the ball from Blake, but Blake shot it so early for some reason. DAMMIT.

And realistically, Aldridge was trying to foul him anyway. I'm not really too upset over that one.

    Two words: Dick Bavetta.

The guy is senile. Battier took a dive and rolled the ball out of bounds RIGHT in front of him. There was ABSOLUTELY no contact on that play.

Bavetta may be in good physical condition for a 70-year old, but he REALLY needs to retire. What, the league can't find any spry, young 55-year old refs to call their playoff games?

And the tech Joel got for having the audacity to be pushed by Yao after a play really came into play at the end of the game. (and the horrible Scola foul) Bottom line, we didn't play our best (ah-hem, Travis Outhouse and LaMarcus, I'm talking to you), but the refs cost us this game. Take away all the bad calls in this game, and Portland wins hands down.

It's the problem this franchise will always face. If they're going to win a playoff game, they have to REALLY play well, because if they play the other team even, the refs will give the other team the game.

In real time, Joel looked like he shoved Yao and that's why he got a tech. On the replay, it appears like he just sort of extended his arm barely without any real contact, though its interesting that Pryzbilla accept the technical without any expression of disapproval. Just a simple wrinkling of the eyebrows or palms up gesture would have made sense there, if he felt the technical was a bad call. Is that something he just doesn't do?

Joel knows it's not worth it to risk getting kicked out. He's got a handful of tech's this year, but he never gets animated at the refs after he has one.

It's comical to me that we are getting called for these weak sauce T's in the last two games. They are the types of T's that appear to be a ref coming into the game worried about something, and they think the game is out of control before it has even started.

He doesn't need to argue it. But if its a bad call and he really didn't do anything, I would at least expect an expression on his face, like "Huh?". Something.

The team is quite used to getting shitty calls. It doesn't really phase the players anymore. McMillan has also beat into the players an attitude of playing through the pain instead of complaining about calls to the refs. The theory being that if you can win despite the bad calls, you'll be that much better when you start getting calls.
