My take is that if you look at it on a +/- ratio (+ for good things and - for bad things) then Roy is way way way in the plus so although he deserves part of the blame he deserves even more good praise for even having us there in that postion. Roy may be our superstar be he is still learning just like the rest of them. And i would rather have my superstar trying to do too much than not enough.
it seems like a big problem that portland is having defensively falls on roy/rudy/outlaw/batum. houston's sg/sf's keep getting wide open looks with nobody near them. and they're getting to the hoop at will without anybody impeding them. case and point, von wafer getting layups and dunks like he's in the dunk contest.
yes, I'm very happy to give Roy a free pass. yes, he had deficiencies. however, he will work on those deficiencies, and he better next year.
While the 4 turnovers were costly, it's hard for me to lay too much blame on Brandons shoulders, as I expect a guy that has the ball in his hands 90% of the time in the 4th quarter to give it up occasionally. Unfortunately his aggresiveness cost us lastnight with the charging foul, but a majority of the time he'll get us in a position to win the game by making that play. Chuck Hayes just happened to make a really good defensive play or maybe we aren't talking about the turnovers this morning.
He was trying to draw fouls. The same types of fouls he had gotten in the previous three quarters. Unfortunately for him, the rule book changed between the third and fourth quarters. The bottom line is that Roy is on the only Blazer on the floor that even has a chance of drawing a foul. Any other player he passes to can get mugged by Houston without any fouls being called.
and you rarely see the other offensive foul called with less than 30 seconds remaining. it was the right call but most of the time the offical will swallow his whistle on that one. and brandon is pretty much the only guy being aggressive in this series for us. LA had a great game 2 and Rudy is playing his ass off but the rest have been MIA. i'm still wondering why rudy only gets 24 minutes?
