Yeah, lets just bring in scrubs that will be happy playing 10 minutes a game for the league minimum - good plan. We need a serious upgrade of talent - no more going 10-11 deep - consoldate some of those guys into better role players. David Lee is the perfect role player for a backup 4. Plenty of minutes at the backup 3-4-5 for him on this team.
the bigger idea with this is that once Oden and Aldridge improve there won't be a ton of leftover minutes so it's a short-term sitch, that's why i'm not stoked on bringing in David Lee. Dyess is reliable and has played over 78 games the last four seasons in a row. I'm curious to see Joel Freeland too, hopefully he'll be a member of our team next year. A vet backup in front of him might be good for his learning and we can keep him off the court except for in in blowouts.
Hey believe it or not.. I agree with you we need to consolidate talent.. and I like Lee... but he I also like feasible things.. hell Lebron would look good in our uniform too.. but it isnt happening I like Lee... but why take less minutes and less role for same money? Not gonna happen. And I know you hate Oden.. but like it or not he is here to stay, there are NOT minutes at the backup 5 spot.
O'Neal would now be perfect to come off the bench, and would fit in well with Oden and Aldridge. Thing is he thinks he can be an All-Star again, so I doubt he'll take less money to be a backup.
So I just went and looked at a few lists out there to see who is available, and in the PG direction, the only guy I see who is close is Miller. So unless the Blazers pull the trigger on a trade, the chances are low.
