Which player would take his team farther using the current LA Lakers roster?I guess what I am trying to say is would Shaq on the Lakers without Kobe make them a better team than they are with Kobe?
Shaq of now wouldn't take this team farther. He doesn't attract the defense he used to do, Kwame took him out of the game for god's sake.Shaq in his prime however is a different story.
Shaq, if they still had Caron Butler instead of Kwame Brown. My old coach said you can win without posts, but you can never win without good guard play. Players like Brian Cook, Sasha Vujacic and Smush would thrive in that sytem. They can shoot, and Shaq draws all those double-teams. Plus, Smush can drive, too. I'm not sure how Odom would do, but he can pretty much thrive in any sytem.I think Kobe's team might have more regular season wins (mainly bc shaq can't stay healthy), but Shaq's team would definitely be better come playoff time.
No. Shaq is too lazy and without a good team right now he couldn't really do anything. It is quite amazing what Kobe is doing with the Lakers and it is harder for a big man to lead a team without a supporting cast.
They would be better off sticking with Kobe. He's the best player in the league right now and Shaq wouldn't make much off a difference with a team like the Lakers, with so many wholes.
At this point in their respective careers I would take Kobe, but only by a smudge. Kobe has simply been incredible this year, yet I think he is making some horrible decisions. Shaq on the other hand is playing very smart, and getting back in 20 and 10 form. If the trend continues with Shaq's rapid improvement this year and Kobe's horrible decision making, I could change decisions by April

He's still the most dominant force in basketball right now. He's still getting 20/9 with somewhat limited touches. With a worse team, he'd be scoring more.
How is kobe's decision making horrible? He's been shooting 50% this week and is not forcing like he used to. He only forcers when refs dont' call anything and he attacks the ring. It's not like early on in the season.
Shaq without Kobe = No titlesKobe without Shaq = No titlesShaq this year = boring, sluggishKobe this year = PRICELESSYou pick.

Tim Duncan is the best player in the league and he can be classified as boring.I do agree however shaq has declined alot.

And decision making isn't just shot selection..

Actually he probably could, but i said if they had Caron butler instead of trading him for KwamePG-Smush ParkerSG-Caron ButlerSF-Lamar OdomPF-Chris MihmC- Shaquille O'NealBench: Sasha Vujacic, Brian Cook, Devean George, Jim Jackson. That's not a bad team at all.
I'd take Kobe, just for the fact that he is younger and will be doing what he is doing for a lot longer. Shaq is not very durable, and I do not feel that he can get up those 20FGA's per game, carry a team, and keep up that 55% FG percentage.
Shaq is decelining and th only way for that team to win is for him to score 30 a night. Which is not possible but very possible for Kobe. Shaq has always had a star swingman around him and good supporting cast. With this team he wouldn't be able to do that much with.
Gotta say Kobe That guy got 81 pts against the raptors for god sakes. Shaq and Kobe are both great players but Shaq wouldn't be as good if he didn't get away with so many fouls. but we can see who the true victor is if a Heat-Lakers playoff ensues.
