He's an unrestricted free agent. The Blazers could easily outbid the Rockets.

I thought Outlaw would shine against the Rockets. His brief scoring stint in game 4 kept the Blazers in the game at the half, but he was easily taken out of the game in the second half. How? He has all of the utilities to kill the Rockets such as athleticism, length, and a jumper. I was worried about him more than Steve Blake or any other Blazer not named Roy or Aldridge.

I love it when simpletons like you humiliate yourselves.

The two things you just quoted and bolded have little to do with each other. I didn't say that playoff performance was the only thing that mattered. Its obviously the most important measuring stick in the discussion, hence the second of the two quotes. If a guy is putting up 11 points per game in the playoffs, on a team that allowed the 4th fewest ppg in the NBA, I think its a pretty good sign he's a decent player. If the same guy had put up 10 ppg in the regular season as well, that only helps my argument, ay? Hence the two seperate things you just quoted and tried to tie together.

    Okay.

You ranked 4th in the NBA in points allowed per game. That's pretty much it, all the caveats and qualifiers you want to throw at me don't really matter.

The typical response people give when the numbers don't support their argument.

    Wow.

He's saying they have a defensive rating around 13, per 100 possessions they're in the middle of the pack in points allowed.

The fact that you are only using the 4th lowest PPG Defense in the League really shows how little you know about this team.. And still leads me to wonder why you try and talk like you understand this team. But oh well.. I guess I am just a simpleton and and am in the presence of God himself.

    lol

Von Wafer is putting up double figure scoring numbers against a team that was 4th in the league in allowed scoring. Its pretty simple.

    oghey d00d

I did? Oh, the bullshit about the ACTUAL NUMBERS (numbers don't lie) not having any water in this? Yeah that's good - toss out numbers in favor of good ol' basketball wisdom. We all know the kind of idiocy that can result from that.

It's depressing that it's even a consideration. I doubt we go after him though. With Roy, Rudy, Bayless and Webster, we've got SG pretty well sewn up. And Wafer seems a little short for SF.

I was only half-joking about the Clifford Robinson comparison. I know Outlaw is going up against Battier or Artest some of the time, but it's not like he's not getting good looks. He's had about 20 minutes of good basketball over 4 games.

I never figured he'd be the one to choke under playoff pressure. He has a history of not getting rattled in big games. But maybe he's been thinking about the playoffs for too long. The rest of our players have either a) been to the playoffs or b) only been in the league for a few years.

Outlaw's the one guy who has spent his 5 year career in Portland thinking about one day being able to finally shine in a playoff series. Roy and Aldridge were back in college back when Outlaw was stuck on that 21 win team trying to learn to dribble a ball.

Maybe it's a little early for my Uncle Cliffy comparison. Maybe it's still just jitters from a goal too-long anticipated.

What is it about Pace that is so difficult to grasp? They're ok defensively, but not special. The whole Wafer thing, whatever I didn't even mention that. :]

KOMPRHENSIONZ FAI- Oh no wait, that looks immature as hell nevermind. Does anyone think that is cute or funny anymore?

Anyone have a link to the pace stats of the nba teams? I guess we gotta break it down for some kids to understand.

Pace has little to do with this, if anything. Its a pretty simple formula - the Blazers allowed the 4th fewest points in the league, and Von Wafer is having a decent series despite that. Pace is just a meaningless qualifier in this, because it doesn't really matter what caused the Blazers to give up the 4th fewest points in the NBA... they just did.

Its not supposed to be cute or funny.

All that really matters is the final result - they gave up the 4th fewest points in the league. I don't care why they did or how they got there, they did. Oh wait, was it an 82 game fluke?

Von Wafer is a solid player, I disagree with what some Blazer fans have said here. He's been playing well, sometimes he'll take a stupid shot but oh well. I never considered the Blazers a great defensive team, I'm not shocked that Wafer could go off on them a little bit. They've got a bright outlook though.

Thanks appreciate it... so JE without going into numbers for you so its easier to grasp... The Blazers were the 30th paced team out of 30 teams... so simple deductions would mean.. slowing it down means less posessions for the other team to score. Look at their Defensive Efficiency and its at 13th out of 30 teams.. Last I checked there were 16 total playoff teams.. So that really wouldnt bode well that out of the top 16 teams in the league that the Blazers would be towards the middle of the pack in the whole league, and probably lower pack of playoff teams. all caught up?

So Von Wafer has less chances to score, yet he's putting a point more than he did in the regular season, on a team that allows less possessions and less scoring by extension, all the way up to 4th best in the NBA in that regard. I'm sorry, was your post meant to prove my point or what? Oops.

My post was in no way Knocking Wafer.. I think he's a hell of a scorer. I was pointing out the flaws in your argument about the Blazers being a good defensive team.. and your overall lack of knowledge on this team.. thats when I addressed your Outlaw comment
