Explain how Houston hasn't gotten out of the first round in like 100 years then?

    Wow, nice one!

Other then the fact I used the wrong word, what else did I say that is incorrect. Do you honestly believe that role players and stars are treated the same way in the NBA? That was the question I was curious about and the one you didn't bother to answer.

And if you answer is No, that role players and stars are treated differently, doesn't that pretty much deep six your theory that officiating has nothing to do with Portland losing games? Since Yao is a star and Portland doesn't have one, that would be an implicit advantage for Houston which might account for losing games by thin margins.

I would have to disagree with you here. We all have subconscious biases that impact our decision making, whether we realize it or not. Referees are no exception.

Much like unconscious racial bias, these issues don't get addressed unless they are brought to light. Perhaps I'm being Pollyanna-ish, but I'd like to think that Nate's comments are not intended to get the refs on our side, but to encourage them to examine what might be causing the inconsistencies and mitigate or eliminate said cause.

Hmmm....OK, I can kind of understand that. To be honest, though, the more I've thought about this, the more I agree that the refs had over-reacted to Adelman's complaining and became a bit hyper-vigilant (i.e. quick whistles) when it came to determining if Yao was being man-handled. It should even out tonight, but it's probably too little, too late at this point.
