Who here listens to 1080 THE FAN? There was a caller that called in after game 1 that had a theory which made a lot of sense. His theory was how the Blazers got blown out by the Lakers in the first game of the season and how it compares with the Blazers getting blown out by the Rockets in game 1 of this series. Then after getting blown out, the Blazers re-grouped and played solid, but not spectacular, basketball for a couple months. Then as the season kept on going by month by month, the Blazers continually got stronger and stronger to the point where they were destroying teams on both the road and at home. He took all of that and said he thought that was how this series may play out. Get roughed up early, come back and play solid games, then by the end of the series the Blazers would be playing their best basketball and finish the series strong. I thought it made a lot of sense at the time and it seems to be holding true. The Blazers have looked much better in the series these last two games, which could have EASILY both been wins. Lets hope they keep on getting better and try and finish this thing.
I've read a lot of people here don't like 1080 and listen to 95.5, which sort of just baffles me. I turn on 95.5 every now and then and that station is just...wow. I feel like it's directed towards grade school kids or something.
I like Wheels on 95.5, but Jim Rome is just obnoxious. Isaac and Suke can be entertaining, but they are kind of hit or miss... Generally I flip back and forth depending on which has a better interesting/aggravating ratio. During particularly bad stretches of Rome soundbites and Paramount Equity commercials I am forced to resort to NPR.
I sure hope that theory is right on!! I've taken a lot of flak for it over the years here but I actually enjoy listening to 1080. Some of the funniest stuff I've ever heard on the radio has been from suk and rop. Yes they are morons a lot of the time and I wish they talked more blazers but when they are on they are incredible. I usually enjoy their club 1080 segment. I'd rather listen to babies cry incessently than to listen to msp or canzano. CIP can take his annoying fucking accent/drawn out style and shove it right up his ass!
Re: Who here listens to 1080 THE FAN? I'd like to expand on the theory. If we play solid, but not great, for a few months, we should start playing really well about the time of the NBA Finals.
I don't listen to 1080... I listen to Wheels at Work, Blazers pregame (sometimes), Blazer games (sometimes), Ducks pregame (sometimes) and Ducks games (sometimes) on 95.5 and the rest of the time listen to 750KXL and listen to talk shows (even though these conservative hosts are far off on 1/2 the things they say, I find it as endless entertainment)
I very seldom listen to The Fan anymore. Mariners baseball is now on all the time. ZZZZZZZZ I pretty much only listen to The Game, especially Rome, Wheels @ Work, and Trail Blazer Pre Game. Mariners vs Trail Blazers playoffs - EASY choice.
I've been saying that we've came back all season long in games and the same is going to be true for this series!
Isaac and Suke have run their course. I'm tired of them. As are many others. Historically, that station changes the hosts every year or two to freshen things up. Its time for another change.
They do have a revolving door of hosts (I would bet most sports stations do), and I'm surprised they have lasted this long. Although I believe their ratings are actually pretty good, and they make the station decent money. It's not the ratings as much as the demos...I think? Something like that. I personally think the two of them suck. But so do Gavin and Chad when they're not talking about the Blazers (and even then, they have some stupid points sometimes).
Wheels is the best. Isaac and Suk can be fun. But who is that guy in the morning on 95.5 - Gavin? He's nothing but a Rome clone, and that's no compliment.
It will be interesting to see if 95.5 can conitune to draw listeners after the Blazer season. I think I'll be tuning in to Cowherd for the morning drive . . . but I'm a flipper so I'll catch some of the MSP, maybe they draw me in this summer.
IMO every game in Houston the Blazers have got closer to winning. The first game they pretty much trailed the whole way and came close. The second game they pulled themselves up, and actually took a lead for a while, and faltered. Now what I am looking for is a team that is learning every game, to put it all together in the 3rd game.
