Greg got another 2 post attempts tonight and went 0-1 with a turnover. I have this on another thread, but since I still can't find it, I believe he is up to 15 post-ups, he is 2-9, 4 turnovers, and in the other two possessions the team did not score, for the series. 4 points for the team in 15 possessions of posting him up. He still makes an impact on the game, but imagine how big he'll be when he can develop a go-to move, and a counter to the right hook.
WTF are we running him in a post up iso for? When he plays against Yao, we should be running the P&R with GO. It's not that we're not only not using him enough, we're not using him properly. Get Yao's feet moving and you'll get foul calls on him.
This is very true. In one of the games (can't remember which) we did run two P&R plays for Greg and he flew at the basket with good results. We did the same in game 5, with Aldridge. These are very effective plays! Why do we not do it much more???????
I think a big factor is they just don't go to him enough. He needs to get in a rhythm and he can't do that with just a couple attempts. That's like when he got his 4th foul. I was yelling at Nate not to pull him and just let him play and that's what he did and he really delivered on D because he was allowed to keep playing and get in rhythm with the game. I think the same would be true of his O if given more of a chance.
You are absolutely correct. And that is exactly the situation where Greg should be given the ball. When he rolls off the pick he is open a lot and it is his BEST offensive play. Much better than when he backs players down on an ISO.
