1) He's shown that he can excel with a running team (Drexler-era Blazers), and a grind it out defensive team (current rockets) 2) He got his team ready for the playoffs from the opening tip, blowing us out. 3) He jedi-mind-tricked the officials into thinking that the games are actually wrestling matches. 4) I saw an article saying he was the 11th most winningest coach in the regular season, and he's also has the 11th most playoff wins. Many of the coaches above him don't have his team's win/loss record. Some might argue that he hasn't gotten these Rockets out of the first round. I would say that his Rockets teams haven't really have the talent to do that.

I wanted Rick instead of Nate. He's one of my favorite all time Blazers. I hate rooting against him in the playoffs.
Adelman will be in the HOF no doubt. He's been successful wherever he's at, which is tough to do, and even tougher to handle the egos he's had.
I remember his one year at Golden State. Fans would ask me if people in Portland really thought he was a good coach and could not believe me when I said yes. Of course if the team is terrible, Red Auerbach could not get wins out of them. Then he went to Sacramento and to Houston and succeeded both places. I'd see 3 of 4 means a pretty good coach.
Great article... Rick is an awesome person... when I went to Chemeketa I took a basketball class. He was the teacher of course... I got to play against him. I am still to this day looking for my jock.. He was quick still at his age... tough to guard. Of course if I could guard him I would probably be doing somethign different He treated us all well... and made it fun
