One of my very good friends. I would like to consider one of my "best" friends was shot yesterday.Another one who I wouldnt call a friend but someone who I play basketball with alot was gunned down and killed yesterday. It is a damn shame people cant play basketball anymore without having to look over there back. This is <Censored> rediculous.I heard about a shooting yesterday and had no idea who it was so I decided not to pay much attention to it. His mom called me about 10 minutes ago and told me it was them who got shot.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>One man is dead and a teenager wounded after gunfire erupted at a city basketball court at a playground Monday afternoon, city police said. The man was shot in the chest shortly before 4 p.m. at A. Roy Flanigan Park at the corner of Walnut Street and Little League Boulevard. Police have declined to release the dead man?s name, age, identity or how many times he was shot. The man?s clothing, including a blood-stained white T-shirt and construction worker boots, were next to a pool of blood on the basketball court near the foul line.Police taped the area off and measured where shell casings were. Two girls tried to stop the man?s bleeding by pressing the shirt to his chest until paramedics arrived, Greg Ousley Sr., recreation coordinator for Campbell Street Family and Youth Community Association, said. Children heard the shots, some saw the shooting and they ran in different directions, he said.An unidentified boy at the scene said he heard three shots. ?He came up and shot him in the chest,? the boy said.Police were looking for two individuals who ran from the scene, one of whom was holding a gun. One of the youths wanted for questioning was wearing a white shirt and another a black shirt. After the shootings, the Williamsport Hospital emergency room went into a lock down and nobody was allowed to go inside without authorization.Further details about the victim were hard to come by.?Attempts to contact the victim?s next of kin are ongoing,? Capt. Keith E. Bowers said. An autopsy will be done today at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown, Bowers said later at City Hall. Attempts to reach Coroner Charles E. Kiessling Jr. Monday night were not successful.Bowers said police had no suspects as of press time Monday. This is the first homicide by firearm this year, city police Sgt. Gregory Foresman said.Police said there were indications the teenager was on an adjacent basketball court in the park and was struck by a stray bullet.Bowers declined to specify where the teenager was hit.Bowers said the teenager went to the hospital without waiting for emergency personnel.??He had a non-life-threatening wound and was treated,?? Bowers said.Bowers declined to identify the teenager or provide his age.Asked about a possible motive for the shooting, Bowers said it was too early to determine and police had no theories at that time. The basketball games were not sanctioned by The Center, its executive director Rocky Boone said. ??They were local pick-up games,?? he said.It was one of the best days to be outside this year. But Boone expressed outrage that the sterling afternoon was shattered.??Look at the last month and a half,?? he said. ??There is a shooting every weekend, and it?s not even hot. We either take back the neighborhoods or give them up. The time for talking is over.??Police said they continue to investigate shootings involving two men who were wounded in separate incidents March 18.A man believed to be in his late 20s was struck at least three times by a gunman who fired five shots on Sixth Avenue, just south of High Street, about 4 a.m. The other shooting occurred near Campbell Street and Memorial Avenue. About 2 p.m. a man appeared on a woman?s front porch in the 800 block of Memorial, claimed to have been shot and asked her to call an ambulance.Ironically, Boone said, he was preparing handouts advertising another Crime Watch meeting Thursday at City Hall. The events are sponsored by the Williamsport and Lycoming County Crime Commission and Newberry Crime Commission. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. at the William Sechler room on the second floor of City Hall, he said.??This is no joke,?? Boone said. ??This is for real. We have two choices ? give in or take it back, and I ain?t ready to give in.??Boone said the crime commission meeting was designed to improve the lives of residents and give the children a brighter future.Topics of the meeting were to be developing crime walks, teaching block captains and neighborhood leaders, car patrol organization, building data bases, and getting neighbors familiar with each other through block parties.??You try and prepare but the hoodlums never wait for you,?? Boone said.Sean Walker, recreation coordinator of the community youth outreach for Covenant-Central Presbyterian Church, 807 W. Fourth St., said he was raised here but it has never been so violent. He said he suspected the shooting was gang related because of the shirt colors of black and white.??These leaders of gangs want to hire them,?? Walker said of potential children recruited into the gang lifestyle.Walker said one immediate solution might be an all-out coordinated youth outreach among churches.??We do need some divine intervention and adult supervision,?? he said.Ronald S. James, executive director of the Williamsport and Lycoming County Crime Commission and Newberry Crime Commission, said nothing is being done to negate arguments among youths that can quickly turn deadly.??There are too many guns on the streets,?? he said. ??There are too many kids walking around in pockets or groups. Any more than three kids in a group needs to be investigated. It is called public safety. We?ve got to do something or there will be no turning back.??</div>http://www.sungazette.com/News/articles.asp?articleID=3444R.I.P D.J.WGet well soon A.M.B

That really sucks, every state has somewhere is turning into the ghetto now basically. I wonder why they did it, maybe a grudge or something.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (BALLAHOLLIC @ Mar 28 2006, 02:34 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>The scariest part of this whole thing is I was suppose to play with them at the time but I went to get a haircut instead.Very close call.</div>That is what happened to my friends sister, her 4 friends invited her to go study before finals at the high school, but she decided not to. Those 4 kids got into a car crash next to my house, 2 died, 1 with two broken legs, 1 with brain damage.

You should get a basketball hoop in your driveway or something so you don't have to worry about getting shot.
