Re: Ron Artest with some high praise for BRoy Whoah I had no idea BBreference had that data.. thanks for that.. repped
Re: Ron Artest with some high praise for BRoy Ron Ron's mental health has always been somewhat questionable. He didn't do anything tonight that made me change my mind on that even with the props to BRoy. He seemed like he was stoned or something. Hell, I thought they were going to wet themselves and I was right there with them!
Re: Ron Artest with some high praise for BRoy Artest is just trying to blow smoke up Roy's arse. Roy wont fall for it.
Re: Ron Artest with some high praise for BRoy lol the expression on kobe's face is just so damn funny right now...5:40AM
Re: Ron Artest with some high praise for BRoy Here's the uncut interview: Psycho Ron Ron
Re: Ron Artest with some high praise for BRoy Really? Don't forget that Artest busted two of Jordan's ribs in pickup game when Artest was in Chicago. This was after Jordan talked smack to Artest. I don't think Artest is trying to get in Roy's head. Artest isn't devious. He's not dumb but he's not devious. What he might be thinking is that he used to kick Roy's butt (as seen in the link to BBall Reference.com) but Roy has clearly worked him out. So in terms of improvement against Artest, Roy is probably the best. And also Roy has probably the best kind of game to work against Artest: Artest is very quick (good against Kobe) and very strong (good against LeBron - Artest is probably the best player in the league to guard James) but his very size means he probably can't adjust speeds quick enough to match Roy's herky-jerky change-of-pace game. One more point: LeBron and Kobe probably rely a lot simply on intimidating their opponents. That isn't going to work on Ron, who knows that if he went into a locked room with basically anyone in the league, he'd be the only one walking out. Roy never relies on that, and Artest probably respects that.
Re: Ron Artest with some high praise for BRoy I prefer the basketbawful nickname Crazy Pills. I love Roy. I think Roy is awesome. And even I don't think Roy is the best offensive player Crazy Pills played against. He may very well be the most successful player to play against Ron Ron. I think age has something to do with it. 5 years ago I think Roy would be having a MUCH harder time in this series.
Re: Ron Artest with some high praise for BRoy Battier responds to Artest's comments: http://www.nba.com/video/channels/playoffs/2009/04/29/nba_20090429_battier2_sot.nba/index.html
Re: Ron Artest with some high praise for BRoy That's an awesome interview. Artest is two parts basketball player and three parts professional wrestler. And he's good at both. I'm adding him to the incredibly short list of current and former NBA players I'll never tivo past during an interview. Along with Charles Barkley, Shaq, Sheed, Rodman, Kenny Smith and Avery Johnson. Not the smartest bunch of guys, but certainly the most entertaining.
Re: Ron Artest with some high praise for BRoy This must be good for Kobe and LeBron's ego. Shane thinks Roy is not there yet
Of course Artest was a Bull for his first 2 1/2 seasons in the league, and he claims he and Mike had some wars in past off seasons working out. RA has been an outstanding defender since he came into the league and seems as intense/competitive as anyone... it seems only natural that Mike would have enjoyed butting heads with him while both were at the peaks of their games. Competitors seek out challenges. Perhaps his listing of Brandon as the best he's gone against is both a nod to Roy's talent/game and a dig on Kobe who seems to be widely regarded as a dick. But as someone else noted, Brandon's speed shifting/herky jerky finesse game and ability to finish inside and out is a particularly tough matchup for the much heavier Artest. STOMP
Re: Ron Artest with some high praise for BRoy Really? He's an undersized Travis Outlaw except he can't rebound. He's shooting 42% for the series, and he's playing out of his mind. Artest, on the other hand, would be perfect for the starting unit for a few years in the role he has right now in Houston. I wouldn't mind Battier either.
Re: Ron Artest with some high praise for BRoy let's not forget that Artest is a sociopath...and a criminal.
Re: Ron Artest with some high praise for BRoy I have always felt Battier would be perfect for this team. If Portland had him instead of Houston, the Blazers would have swept the Rockets. Though really, Portland would have been playing the Hornets since they would have had the number two spot in the West.

Re: Artest:"Roy better than Kobe or LeBron My thoughts are that Ron is crazy. Lebron James is a better offensive player than Brandon Roy, and there is no debate about that. Lebron has a higher volume on a higher efficiency. Kobe's interesting, because Roy has a higher efficiency by about 1 TS% I believe, and if you adjust for pace, they're probably similar in volume. One thing that I think Brandon Roy has on both of them though, on offense, is that he's a better clutch scorer.
