Re: Thanks Blazers for a Great Season! Bitter ending, but fantastic season. There's plenty of good things to build on and the flexibility to tweak the roster to fix weaknesses. We're going to be winning a lot of games for years to come.
2008-2009 BLAZERS Great season! Nate should have been coach of the year, IMO, for growing with the team and at least partially adapting an uptempo offense that really utilized the wide array of talent we have. Unfortunately, he backpedalled in the playoffs, and did not stick to the game and rotations that got us here, and that left many players in line-ups that did not match their abilities, poor chemistry, and awkward ball and player movement. Had we treated the playoffs like any other game(s), we'd be playing the Lakers next. Absolutely no reason to touch the top 12 guys at all (Martell + actives - Ruffin), and all we need is for Channing to toughen up a tad or be replaced (Joel Freeland?). Next year we run with Sergio leading and continue our 20+pts blowout trend we started this year. Maybe by next playoffs Nate will have learned to trust his players more and won't feel the need to second-guess them. BAKE IT!
Re: 2008-2009 BLAZERS Great season!!! Way overachieved! This loss was bound to happen, either to houston or the lakers..we weren't winning the title this year anyways.. Upgrade PG....trade rudy/martell for a vet SF to mentor batum and just grow, and we'll push 60 wins! In KP WE TRUST!!!! Surprisingly, I'm not devastated after this loss..maybe because it was over in the 2nd or b/c we had our chances in Game1 (Home game) and Game 4(4th quarter lead)
Re: 2008-2009 BLAZERS Fantastic season, even though this loss was tough to swallow. As much as I'd like to just "bake it" as well, I can't help but dream of landing someone like Prince this offseason and win a few series in the 2010 playoffs. Wow... 2010 seems like a long time from now.
Re: Thanks Blazers for a Great Season! After all of the bullshit over the last several seasons, it's nice to finally be back to something respectable. Houston needed this series more than Portland did. It was enough to get this far. I'm going to go take a break.
Re: 2008-2009 BLAZERS Yeah, it was a great season. The team exceeded expectations, so despite the unfortunate ending, it was a very nice season and the prospect of the team being even better next year is very exciting. The off-season should be a lot of fun. Hopefully Pritchard does a bit of dealing.
Re: Thanks Blazers for a Great Season! Yep, great season that exceeded expectations to finish with the No. 4 seed in a tough Western Conference. Next season, the expectations should be winning a playoff series and I have no doubt that with the other teams aging another season, we'll do it.
Thank you Portland for continuing to exceed expectations. Don't let this series loss get you down too much; this still is, after all, the youngest team in the league. KP has his work cut out for him once again this off-season. Tons of very difficult decisions to make.
Re: GOOD JOB KP Best thread yet! KP, thank you for taking a 22 win team and bringing us to this point!
Re: GOOD JOB KP I can't wait to see what draft day magic he comes up with this year! Pritchard is the man!
Re: GOOD JOB KP Way to stand pat with Travis Outlaw KP! I've never seen a more consistently inconsistent player. Now back to the typical Blazer fan position of looking at the draft.
Re: GOOD JOB KP Do not blame KP for standing pat. He stood pat because Nate vetoed every deal. Now KP has the final say, but he gave Nate the ability to add his input.
Re: GOOD JOB KP Well I won't complain too much. This squad was good enough to win 54 games and give themselves a look at playoff basketball, but more importantly I think KP, Nate and PA got a good look at who is a real gamer and who probably isn't a wise long term investment. Did anyone really think we were going to the conference finals or should have been expected to advance to the second round?
Re: GOOD JOB KP Actually I only heard Nate killed one deal. KP balked at giving up his beloved inconsistent players to get proven commodities the rest of the time. KP drafts well but hasn't proven that he can make deal within the season. Can we have 2 GM's? One for the summer and then one for the trade deadline?
