We pick at #24, so try to put players we have a chance to acquire based on trading up a few slots of them slipping. #1- DeJaun Blair Paul Millsap V 2.0, but bigger and stronger. Rebounding is one facet of the game that always transfer over regardless of playing level. http://www.nbadraft.net/players/dejuan-blair #2- Jrue Holiday A big, long combo guard who has the skills to become an elite point guard in my mind. He should not have came out this early, but man, a great risk reward prospect. He was the #1 guard out of high school and he does have poise. He looked great vs. VCU in the crunch time and who would be a better mentor than B-Roy? http://www.nbadraft.net/players/jrue-holiday #3- Patrick Patterson The kid is compared to Buck Williams, how perfect is that? He is only a sophomore, so he has room to grow, but we need a banger power forward when the matchups call for it. http://www.nbadraft.net/players/patrick-patterson #4- Sam Young An experienced college player who on big time program. He would be a great backup to Roy if we decide to ship out Rudy to upgrade in other areas. He has a sweet stroking jump shot and great size for a 2 guard. http://www.nbadraft.net/players/sam-young #5- Jeff Teague He was the biggest surprise of the 1st half of the college season, but then struggled to maintain the level of play for the course of the year. He looked phenomenal when on, and him playing off of Roy would be sick. This would be a case of BPA at 24 or to trade up a couple of slots. I do see Bayless as a much higher level prospect, but if he is used in a trade, Teague wouldn't be a bad prospect to train. CP3 said Jeff was better than he was at this size, so that is some high praise. http://www.nbadraft.net/players/jeff-teague
Blair would be a great fit. I wouldn't be surprised if hes there at 24. I doubt Holliday lasts that long because of his potential but its possible. Teague seems redundant with Bayless already there. I think Patrick Patterson is underrated thus far. Hes a tweener but hes a player. I don't think hes what Portland is looking for though- hes not soft but hes 6'8 223 lbs. Hes not a "banger". Seems like an awkward fit for a big Portland team that wants a big, banging reserve PF.
Other players I would love to grab: * Tyreke Evans (I know, unrealistic, but I love this kid) * Brandon Jennings
With all of the underclassmen that returned to school opting out of the draft, a weak class two weeks ago just got a whole lot weaker with scrubs like Chase Budinger projecting into the mid-first round. This draft is going to suck balls, don't fall too in love with some of these prospects.
I like Bayless > all guards in this draft except probably Rubio and Harden, tbh. He'd be a top 5 pick in this draft I believe. But if I had to pick 3 realistic (kinda) targets for us they would probably be Blair, Patty Mills, and Eric Maynor.
anyone else want to post their draft board instead of: this draft sucks <insert name> wont be there oh yeah..kool aid
Fixed and don't go to NBADraft.net. They had Deshawn Stevenson as the next Michael Jordan. Use Draft Express.
I like the way you're thinking. The only problem I have with this year's draft is that there are going to be some lottery picks, making lottery pick money when they aren't worth 2+ million dollars a year ... I know that doesn't sound like much, but if you have 6 or 7 guys all making that kind of money when they aren't even in the regular rotation and you are maxing guys like Brandon, Lamarcus, etc. it kind of adds up and only serves to make deal-making less likely, not to mention killing your bottom line.
I agree, Tyler Hansbrough seem like the guy we will end up with if we actually pick at 24. I like to trade up and grab Ty Lawson if we can though.
