People have been hinting they are BFF's( Best Friends Forever), but now I am starting to believe it. I really believe Roy wants Outlaw to have a major part in our upcoming future. Here are some stuff he said last night: It got to the point where in Game 6, Roy on the court had several one-on-ones with Outlaw. At one point he felt Outlaw was forcing shots, so he told him to look for his outlet passes. When that seemed to mess Outlaw up, he told him to just shoot it when he got it. "I think maybe I had him thinking too much,'' Roy said later. Roy said more than anyone, Outlaw probably benefited from the playoff experience. "I thought about it - I was able to play in the NCAA Tournament and I don't think Travis played in very many meaningful games like that,'' Roy said. "I mean, I don't know what the competition was like in Starksville (Miss.), but even in my high school state tournaments, those were big deals. I can remember missing free throws in the semifinals and not winning. So going to the playoffs for me wasn't that big of an adjustment. "Travis went from three years of not playing, three years of being in the fold, but he had never played in a meaningful game, like a playoff, and I just think he had never been there with the intensity level and everything else. But I think he is that kind of player. He will be better in the playoffs, he just needed this experience.''
One series doesn't define anyone. As far as I'm concerned, Outlaw is still what he always was, an inconsistent scorer. I don't think he's particularly unqualified to play in playoff games just because his first series was a poor one. As for Roy supporting a teammate, I think he'd do that for any teammates who had such a poor series. It's one of the things we like about him.
Well said. We know Roy hasn't been shy about public support for Outlaw; probably the single reason he's even on the team still. In the end, the ball is in KP's court and Roy only has so much say. I don't think KP would kill a deal because of Roy, though.
Even if Roy said if you trade him trade me? Nate was suppose to have talked KP out of trading a player and I think there's a good chance it was Outlaw. Might have been because of his friendship to Roy.
The fact that we have so many threads about Outlaw today is a pretty good reason why Roy is going out of his way to defend him. Fans of 29 teams need someone to blame every season. Roy's not stupid. He knows who our fans will single out.
I think Brandon gets Travis. They are best friends on the team so Yea Brandon is going to say nice things about him. However Brandon has not been afraid to say when he thought Travis screwed up.
I'll bet Roy wants to win more than he wants to be Outlaw's teammate, so if KP can trade Travis for a player that makes the team better Brandon will go along with it. barfo
