Except the fact that Jennings is a taller player, and seems to get anywhere he wants on the court with much more ease. Telfair was a pretty good PG this year when he was healthy, but he had knee tendinitis I believe they said CJ Miles was the next Kobe Bryant too....Utah has drafted the next MJ & Kobe Bryant Teague will go back to school if he isn't guaranteed a lottery pick, so there is no realistic chance you guys gets Teague. What do you guys think about Darren Collison?
Getting anywhere he wanted on the court wasn't a problem for Telfair at all, in Portland. It was finishing at the hoop and shooting that really did him in. He also had trouble passing out of traffic.
I don't think you guys want Hansbrough. Cole Aldrich and Blake Griffin both made him look silly and those two are top NBA prospects (Blake this year, Cole next year). I'd avoid Tyler.
Seconded. That guy is going to get abused at the next level; he's the classic player without a position. Not strong enough or tall enough to play power forward, not quick enough to play small forward.
I agree but we have to be realistic at what we're getting at the bottom of the NBA draft. I think Ty would be a bigger influence in practice and off the court than in games. Madsen wasn't a great player but he brought energy off the bench and brought passion to the Lakers. He won 2 rings with them, need I remind you. Hopefully Ty can do the same for us.
I think KP will try to get Jordan Hill and from what I read about him he's not THAT good, so he'll succeed.
I really think KP will draft a player we can let develop in Europe. I have a gut feeling KP will look at drafting Victor Claver. Before he went down with his knee injury he was a sure fire lotto pick. An athletic 6'10" PF who can slash and hit the three, he's an interesting prospect. From the various scouting reports I've read he has a skill set, minus the PG-like passing, of Hedo Turkoglu.
But why would we want to continue getting these types of PFs? Why wouldn't we go for a banger? someone who will play down low, not a Frye type PF.
Hilll is projected to go in the Top 5...what would we offer for the #5 pick? #24, a purchased 1st for 3 mill, martell and petko? I'm not a big rudy fan, but even I wouldn't trade him to get Hill
Exactly. I kind of wish KP would have retained Diogu over Frye this year, but I'm guessing there must have been a work ethic issue or he probably wanted out. We've got our "Baby Sheed", we need to find our "Baby Grant" now.
**UPDATE** #1- DeJaun Blair #2- Sam Young #3- Jrue Holiday #4- Gani Lawal #5- Omri Casspi I hope we stay pat @ #24, pick up Sam Young. A 4 year player at Pitt who has all the intangibles to become a James Posey type player, who would be great off of the bench behind Batum. We need role players and Young is just that. I would also purchase a pick in the teens, use a couple of our 2nds and trade up to around 15 and snag up DeJaun Blair. Yes, we are adding 2 more rookies, but both have played substantial big game minutes at their careers at Pitt. Both are players who do one-two things great, know their role, and bring value to our team in our weaker aspects. We still have our cap space to go after a point guard to groom Bayless or we can not pick up Blake's option, trade Surge for the Knicks trade exception, or use our cap space to take on a lopsided trade.
BJ Mullens Gerald Henderson Terrence Williams Danny Green Nick Calathes Whether Mullens is first on my board or one of the guards is depends in if we go after one of those two positions in free agency. If we do, like I want to, I say pick the other one in the draft. Calathes isn't quite the type of player I want unless he can defend SGs, but I couldn't find any more players like that, I would rather put Rubio at the top spot and move the others down if that is allowed in this thread.
Mullens has no feel for the game whatsoever. His feel for the game is comparable to Ha Seung-Jin's. It's non-existent. Top-5 (w/o trading into the lotto) *Patrick Mills *Wayne Ellington *Austin Daye *Jrue Holiday *James Johnson If we trade into the top-10: 1) Eric Maynor 2) Dejuan Blair
I'm not looking for a player looking for big minutes this season. If we have a ton in injuries, Mullens would be an emergency big man. My main hope is that he will develop enough to be ready to replace Przybilla if he leaves for more money and/or playing time in a year or two. The same idea is behind my thinking about Robert Swift, one of the free agent targets I listed the other day.
