I love him as a college player, but I don't think he's what we need.

Since Patty Mills is probably a second round talent, I'm not very thrilled about blowing a first rounder on him.

Beyond that I have to echo what Hurrakane said ... minus the invective.

If BJ Mullens is on the board when Portland is on the clock, I'd pick him.

Mills is badass but I hesitate to take him at 24. I wouldn't mind trading up a bit to get Maynor, but we probably don't need to draft anyone.

I want Portland to trade out of this draft except for a project in the 2nd round. Lets trade our pick/picks and players for more Vets. We are young enough.

I like Maynor, but I've seen him projected to go as high as 12th overall, that's a lot of scratch for a guy I'm not sure could beat Bayless on the depth chart, and I'd rather try to develop a physical specimen like J-Bay than rely on a very slight guy like Maynor who is a year or two older and has a janky jumpshot.

why do you guys hate Patty Mills so much? Out of anyone left, I would say he has the most experience against high competition, and the best success. Similar to Rudy, Mills performed unbelievable in the Olympics, and that is a usual indicator that they can play with the big boys. The thing that sticks out the most is the passion he has for the game, and the leadership he has shown on every level. That is an important characteristic for a PG to run a team, helping a team be as efficient as you can be. The final skill is the way he feeds the post players every time they have good position. He won't force it to the bigs, but he knows not to forget about them and reward them. He did it in the Olympics with Bogut and Andersen, then @ St. Mary's with Samhan and Simpson. To tell the truth, I feel he is top 15 talent but his hand injury hurt his stock. Out of all the players left, it just seemed he was the best fit for Portland.

This team might draft a point guard, but I think most people around here have come to the conclusion that this team actually needs a veteran at that position more than they need yet another young guy to try to come in and be the 'savior' ... I think we've had a belly full of drafting a point guard every year and seeing the experiment bear little or no fruit (Telfair, Jack, Rodriguez and now Bayless)
