http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090505/ap_on_he_me/med_face_transplant In this second one at the news conference. She looks more asian. This is what she used before the gunshot blast to her face.
That poor woman. I can't imagine how difficult her life has been, and I'm glad to see she had a successful transplant that hopefully eases some of her troubles. -Pop
Think of this being a miracle for her and to have surgeons put their time and effort into making her feel good again. An incident like this (being shot) is no different than someone being burned. We have to think of this technology as a good thing to our society and not look at prior to the accident.
Wow. Considering that if she could afford it, she could probably get more cosmetic work done and look like nothing is actually wrong, other than her eyes are a bit wonky. It just looks like she needs some excess skin taken off. That's insane that she basically got an entirely new nose.
Yeah, I was going to say, the nose is pretty much perfect. So she has that going for her. Which is nice.
I would be afraid of her husband that shot her in the face. Heres another article http://www.wtov9.com/news/15408240/detail.html
Dude...Im glad things are getting better for her...but WTF?!?! Why are there so many women in the world like this??? I know people dont want to be lonely but jesus christ! She obviously needs a lot of therapy. I wish her the best
I thought the same thing too. Why isn't it considered a "First Degree Domestic Assault" with a class A felony wich would be at least 10 years. For example: http://www.denvercriminalattorney.com/criminal_charges/assault.html i thought he would get more than 7.
No she didn't. elude Verb 1. to avoid or escape from (someone or something) 2. to fail to be understood or remembered by: the mysteries of commerce elude me [Latin eludere to deceive] USAGE: Elude is sometimes wrongly used where allude is meant: he was alluding (not eluding) to his previous visit to the city. barfo
That's an amazing medical achievement. I'm thrilled for that woman that she gets to live some semblance of a normal life again. Remember, this technology is in its infancy. Imagine what is possible when this kind of surgery is further developed.
The drooping and square lower face you see in the after photos are still going to get some repair work when the swelling goes down. But before, the woman needed a respirator and feeding tube, had no sense of smell. She can finally eat and breathe on her own, in itself a great advance. And I agree on taking that scumbag back. My mother may she rest in peace always told my sister and me that we should never ever stay with a man who hit us (she made an assumption about me that she later realized was untrue) and that we should always be able to support ourselves so we would not be dependent on such a man. My mother was in many ways ahead of her time. And hitting is, while not minor, a lot less severe than a shotgun blast to the face. Hopefully a new face will help her self-respect so that she does not feel she has to stay with that assailant.
