Hmm. I'm a little confused. I don't see how Noah could have a 19 points O-Rtg/D-Rtg differential and not a positive +/-.
Also, if you give any credence to +/- at all, Brad Miller had a much better series than Noah. Glen Davis too. They each led their team by a wide margin.
Great observations, Jay. As good as Noah seemed to be, with the blocks and rebounds, it sure looked to me like the Celtics bigs scored with ease. In game 7, Perkins went 6-8/14 points with 13 boards to Noah's 1-2/7 points with 15 boards. In game 6, Perkins went 5-8/12 points with 13 boards to Noah's 4-9/9 points with 15 boards. In game 5, Perkins went 7-13/16 points with 19 boards to Noah's 4-9/11 points with 17 boards. In game 4, Perkins went 6-10/15 points with 9 boards to Noah's 4-5/12 points with 10 boards. In game 3, Perkins went 2-5/6 points with 7 boards to Noah's 2-5/8 points with 10 boards. In game 2, Perkins went 7-9/16 points with 12 boards to Noah's 6-9/13 points with 8 boards. In game 1, Perkins went 7-11/14 points with 8 boards to Noah's 5-12/13 points with 17 boards. Looks to me like we won this battle of the bigs in arguably 2 of the 7 games. For the season, he went 3-6/8 points with 8 boards (per game). Big Baby scored 18, 26, 14, 10, 21, 23, and 15 points. For the season, he was a 7 PPG scorer.
good breakdown. The only thing you need to consider, though, is that Baby wasn't getting a lot of minutes backing up KG. His numbers as a starter in the regular season are probably on par with his numbers in the series. Im on my phone so Im not gonna look it up, but he's been pretty impressive as a starter.
It wasn't just the minutes. Perkins PER went from ~14 (regular season) to ~18. Big Baby's PER went from ~12 to ~16.
What was Big Baby's PER as a starter, though? He's much more effective playing alongside the starters compared to playing with the 2nd unit. I'm going to look and see if I can find it... EDIT: Here we go: Davis as a starter in the reg. season (16 games): 12.6 ppg, 5.6 rpg, 1.7 apg, 48.2% So he was +5.5 ppg, +1.1 rpg, +.9 apg, -2.4 fg% in the series I can't find his PER as a starter anywhere.
