He has a player option coming up, but I think he can get more than 6.5 mill on the open market.
We should have enough to sign him if we trade Sergio to NY for their trade exception, which would put us around 8.8 under the cap.
He is also 30, so he'd have a few years left in the tank, then Batum will be ready to take over.
We'd also have some other assets left to go after a point guard or backup 4.
Could he be KP's target this year?
I also love the fact he'd be a consistent 3rd scorer that we could rely on to take the burden off of Roy and Aldridge at times.

A group of buddies at work and I were just talking about him. It seems like Portland has been rumored to be interested in him for some time now. Portland has just the cap room to sign him. His game seems like it'd fit in with what we're doing here. I think it'd be a great signing.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Does Rajon Rondo have a player option? No? Damn.

Rondo is becoming one of my top favourite non-Blazer players. So good and so much fun to watch.

Roy, Webster, Turkey Glue, L-Train, Oden/Przybilla.

That could be a sick unit. Not necessarily starting, but those 5 on the floor at once could be special.

Last year, I really felt Rondo was a product of the guys around him. It's easy to do good things with a defense focused on the BIG three. Well, he got some confidence in him from that experience. And he's letting that confidence carry, and now he looks like he is going to have a very solid career. I'd love to see him here, but I don't see it happening short-term.

Another ball handler who can shoot like Turkoglu would make Aldridge and Oden's job much easier.

Depending on his contract demands I could see it.

I keep wondering what it would take to get Tayshaun Prince from Joe Dumars (assuming he's ready to blow the whole thing up)?

I think Outlaw may be gone.... there's a lot of speculation and what not. But Rudy and Martell, I don't see either leaving.

If Rudy's gone, it's part of some amazing package we can't pass up. I can't see that happening. I think Outlaw's time has likely come (which I don't really agree with, but I have no say, JERKS). I can see us chasing Bibby or Andre, though I think I see Bibby staying in Atlanta, where things have come together for him.

Dumars should not be asking for the farm,Tay had horrible averages for the playoffs..like 3ppg, 3rpg, and 1 apg. For such a great defender, Tay has never averaged more than 1 steal or block in an entire season. I'd still look at him, but Dumars wanted Roy for Billups..yikes.
I wouldn't offer more than Rudy and Sergio for Prince.

Short of overpaying in terms of talent, I don't think Dumars would give up Prince. I assume he wants to rebuild around Prince and Stuckey. Over time, he's let the older players like Ben Wallace, Chauncey Billups and, this offseason, Rasheed Wallace go. I'd guess he'd like to add an impact player or two to Prince and Stuckey and do a quick rebuild/reload/retool.

Much like how Indiana transitioned from the Reggie Miller/Mark Jackson/Dale Davis team to a Reggie Miller/Jermaine O'Neal/Ron Artest team without ever blowing it up.

martell and rudy seem so similar, yes I know they had a circle jerk in the 1st preseason game vs the KINGS!!!!...but I don't want duplicate players of that caliber.

Rudy ain't going anywhere.. I don't know why people keep mentioning him in guys we can trade. I am 100 percent guaranteed he's back next season.

As for Hedo, he's a good player and thought he should've been their second All-Star instead of Rashard Lewis. He'll give you plenty of offense, can shoot and take guys off the dribble and pull up. He would definitely give us that legitimate third scorer that Outlaw can't be.

Next season, sure..but still, I don't think he's going to want to play behind Roy the rest of his career..its just a buy low sell high type of thing..

I don't think Rudy can handle being a 35-40 minute per game starter in the NBA, especially at such a grind at the SG position where you face great players nearly every night. His body would wear down quickly.

He's a great energy guy for 20-30 minutes, and I don't think he'd mind being the backup to Roy. I also still hold out hope for a eventual three-guard rotation of Roy/Rudy/Bayless as our future.

I could easily live with that!
I am all for keeping Rudy if he's cool being the 6th/7th man..i just hope he doesn't go Drazen on us

The only worry I have with Rudy is what will happen when we get rid of Sergio. I don't want Rudy getting all depressed on us since he wrote on his blog how lonely it gets in the NBA lifestyle.

I don't think minutes are a problem though. The coaching staff knows he's the best guard off the bench, and he got 25 mins per game this year. Drazen got upset at getting 12-16 mins a game, and then 7 mins a game in '91 before getting traded.

Still can't believe we didn't play Drazen enough..could have made the diff in 91 and 92 :(
Well sergio made buddies in his 3 years in Portland. Once Rudy becomes more acclimated with the culture here and bonds more with other teammates..I think he will be fine.

Adding Miller and Hedo to this team would make us a serious contender next year.

We can sign one, how we would obtain the other..sign and trade?
I really want to keep the team together, but add a couple vets to provide some playoff experience and consistent scoring..yet they won't hinder the development of Batum and Bayless
