Re: Fisher Suspended, Kobe Given Flagrent No surprise here. Fisher knew what he was doing, I'm sure the thought of suspension was in his head the whole time. It's okay, we'll be fine without him. I actually think Farmar and Shannon are a better fit to defend the Rocket's quick guards. I love the inconsistency from league, though. How is Rondo given clean passes? How is Deron Williams given a clean pass when he did the exact same thing to Bynum in round 1?
Re: Fisher Suspended, Kobe Given Flagrent Agree. I think that Fisher hit was a boderline suspension but the flagrant 2 (and thus being kicked out of the game he was in) was enough. On the one hand he did pretty much level Scola, pretty obviously on purpose, but on the other hand you could also argue that it was just a foul that was excessive and thus just means for a flagrant 2. He didn't swing at Scola but it was a kind of hit or attack. If they're looking to really get a hold on this series then suspending him is acceptable, it might be a little strong but its not a shocker. But it is inconsistent regarding other foul play that has gone on in other series. I think the level of player being reviewed has a lot to do with it. Fisher is a role player and not generally a huge key for the Lakers so there won't be a ton of uproar. Suspending Rondo is a huge game changer and it would be very controversial so I think the NBA gives him (and other big time players) more leeway than role players whose absence won't have too dramatic of an impact.
Re: Fisher Suspended, Kobe Given Flagrent I've got no problem with the suspension, my problem is with the inconsistency, that is all. I think it is fine to call for a suspension, just be consistent with it. Still, I loved the hard foul.
Re: Fisher Suspended, Kobe Given Flagrent Oh, and the Kobe foul being upgraded is a joke. He hit him in the chest with an elbow after Artest was all over Kobe. It was a personal foul that they missed, that is all.
Re: Fisher Suspended, Kobe Given Flagrent No big deal. I wonder if this will have any effect on the players in Game 3. If the game is whistled closely, which I'm sure it will be, who does it favor? If I'm Kobe I go to the rim everytime if the game is being called tight.
Re: Fisher Suspended, Kobe Given Flagrent It has to light a fire under the Lakers' ass. Fisher took a hit for the team and now won't play in a crucial game 3. We saw how they handled adversity last year when Fisher was boo'd in Utah. Remember how fired up Kobe was for that game up in Utah? I think the feeling has to be somewhat similar here.
Re: Fisher Suspended, Kobe Given Flagrent Whistling Ron for a foul was the correct call the problem was that it came late. Had they blew the whistle when he was pushing Kobe down by the back of his head or boxing out his face, maybe then Kobe wouldn't have responded with an elbow.
Re: Fisher Suspended, Kobe Given Flagrent Great point. Anyone who's played basketball before is taught to elbow a guy when they're getting too close and physical. You have to send a message otherwise the defender will push you around even more. Just like what happened to the Lakers in the Finals last year. Boston pushed us around no one really pushed back. Rockets have been physical and figuratively speaking the Lakers just punched them in the mouth.
Re: Fisher Suspended, Kobe Given Flagrent The fact that the NBA suspends people for such bullshit makes me embarrassed to be an NBA fan.
Re: Fisher Suspended, Kobe Given Flagrent He might have to play hard minutes and get somewhat tired, but I still have major confidence in him.
Re: Fisher Suspended, Kobe Given Flagrent So what exactly are you trying to say? Fisher shouldn't have gotten suspended for the intentional shove that knocked Scola to the ground?
Re: Fisher Suspended, Kobe Given Flagrent That hit was fucking epic. Very nice. I know it's a suspension, but that sends a message.
Re: Fisher Suspended, Kobe Given Flagrent Okay well justice is served. People can stop bitching now and move on with the series.
Re: Fisher Suspended, Kobe Given Flagrent me too thrilla, especially here in aus where it is one of the least dominant sports played, it makes the nba look a bit corrupt, which i cannot say if it is or isnt, because i cant decide.
Re: Fisher Suspended, Kobe Given Flagrent I think Shannon has earned more time anyway, I don't know why Fish needs 24+ minutes a night automatically. And Farmar has surprised me with his D, a better matchup for him compared to the bigger Deron Williams.
Re: Fisher Suspended, Kobe Given Flagrent zOmG!1!! How can the Lakers ever make up for Fisher's 5 PPG!??!
