I wanted to look at possible players to get by absorbing $$$ in trades, but that really depends on which teams need savings immediately. This could be because the team/owner needs money, or because they are trying to clear space for 2010. So, which teams will KP be targeting with money savings?
Lots of teams are claiming poverty - but it is tough to tell who is really being serious. A lot of this talk about financial doom-and-gloom is intended to lay the PR groundwork for the 2011 lockout.
About four NBA teams cancelled summer league due to the costs. I forget the names of the teams, but those four have got to be hurting (one was Memphis).
Wow. Hopefully we can get a steal of a trade. It would be nice if we could get in on some highway robbery this summer.
Knicks would probably like to unload Eddy Curry. They're likely picking in the top ten. Buck's Owner is in DEEP financial troubles. They're also in need of offloading salary and also likely picking in the top ten. If we could pick up two top ten picks we could potentially package them for a Rubio deal. Teams could be turned off to Rubio's European contract issues and be willing to deal. Rubio would be awesome for this team. We'd pick n roll teams to death!
KP will decide if there is a player somewhere in the league or the draft who can help us, not hurt us. Then, and only then, he will talk with Tom Penn and others on how best to acquire that player. He's not looking for a bargain, he's looking for a winner.
