Yes indeed you are correct. In fact, does he say anything else? I swear that he usually only does phone interviews mostly. He could just have recorded the whole thing and played it into a phone...:devilwink:

KP's bland and predictable interviews are much like Rasheed's "Both teams played hard" fiasco, just not as bluntly.

Well you know, have you ever seen a GM actually discuss his off season strategy, and the player's he's targeting?

I don't know why fans continue to tune into those interviews expecting to get anything else than "we love our guys, we're not looking to trade anyone yadda yadda yadda".

I've heard KP said that the playoffs was a good learning experience for Travis and he thinks Travis is valuable because of what he showed during the regular season (ability to create shots and coming up big in the 4th quarter).

I obviously haven't heard all the KP interviews, but I would be surprised if he said Outlaw did great in the playoffs or even suggested that.

Too much Outlaw hate on this site . . .

does anyone really miss the days of John Nash playing all of his cards face up? When a GM trashes his players publicly (like JN did several times) it makes matters worse internally with the club/players even if it makes peon fans in the know of what he's really thinking. A GM bashing his own is akin to pissing in his own pool. Better for the GM to spin sunshine to allow him the maximum options of making the unspoken moves he might like to make.

Yep KP does it the right way. I just think it's funny that people get excited when he is on the roadio for an interview because he never says anything.

Are you kidding me? Many come on this site to see waht other fans have to say about the Blazers. If the GM of the Blazers is going to speak, even if you know he is guarded and will not reveal much, why wouldn't I take time out to listen to waht he has to say (especially given the amount of time many of us spend on this site).

The interview I listened with KP, he revealed that the Blazers will be picking up the options on Travis and Blake. If I just read this board, I would swear the Blazers were not going to pick up the option years on Outalw and maybe even Blake.

wow thats news to me... do you have a link for that?

depending on where the salary cap line is set, this may put many of the FAs we talk about out of financial reach

I don't have a link. What I recall from the interview was that the Blazers have to decide by June 30, if they are going to pick up the options for Blake and Outalw and he fully expects the team will pick up the options on both. he then said priorities 1 and 1A after that (can't resign until July 1) is to lock up Roy and Aldrdige long term.

Of course when brought up if the Blazers are going to make a major move this summer, KP said they will be very active this summer but he doesn't think a major move is necessary (classic KP).

KP didn't make it sound like there was much thought going on about picking up the options for Travis and Blake. That doesn't mean they won't be traded . . . in this economic times, maybe a Blake or Outlaw (at 4 mil/yr) looks very attractive to other teams.

Blake and Outlaw don't have to be picked up until after the draft I thought. So technically KP could say trade both of them to a team for an 8 mil player and that team could then not pick up their options. Like a great way to get around the cap. That might not be the case. but I thought it was.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
That isn't necessary. The Blazers could simply renounce Outlaw and Blake and have an extra $8 million of cap space to use in a lopsided (salary-wise) trade, and achieve the same result (clearing $8 million of salary from another team's cap).

I heard the same thing. In fact, KP called it a high priority to pick up those options.
