Now that his daughter is healthy, would it be unethical, or immoral to trade him this offseason? Because quite honestly I'm sick of him. Yes, Aaron Brooks is an absolute nightmare matchup for him, and I'm sure he'd fare better in other matchups, but I'm sick and tired of him being a fucking layup line and getting burnt each and every night. His shot has been absolutely horrible and he's the definition of "momentum killer." The only thing I like about Derek is his supposed leadership, apparently our guys really look up to him in the locker room. Well look how well that's turned out.

His expiring contract could come in handy this offseason. 5 million, we can combine him with Adam Morrison and have a total of 10 million in expirings. I think other teams values Derek, probably because he's popular amongst players (President of Player's Union), and because he has the reputation of being the "good guy" and having veteran presence.

Quite honestly I'm sick of him. One can only imagine how much worse he will be next year with another year of aging, and Phil will continue to play him ahead of guys like Shannon and Jordan. Apparently his daughter is fine now, the only reason he came to LA, apparently, is so he can be closer to his daughter's treatment facilities. Well if she is fine, then by all means, he does not hold us hostage. He either needs to either be traded or flat out retire. Sorry if this post seems harsh, but shit happens. His daughter is doing well and he's getting paid 5 million to stink up shit. I have no sympathy.

    Who would take him?

Buy him out of his contract or make him a player-coach. I think he'd be a good coach.

Teams who want to clear cap space for 2010. Young teams who need a "leader." Do something. If nothing else works tell him retire. He's done.

Just bench him, hell give him Sasha's minutes, he can't be much worse than him at least.

I think we have enough depth there but Phil must realize he's being ignorant by keeping him in there.

Exactly what I was thinking. Have Fisher come off the bench, I still think he's valuable to this team. He's the leader of the locker room and is still the toughest guy we have. Sasha has been horrid since he signed his new deal.

    ^ thanks

I don't know if she is 100%, but I hear she's doing fine now.

But regardless, he cannot hold us hostage over this. Unless he steps up his play, he's fair game just like the rest of the guys. If it's such a big problem that he absolutely cannot leave LA then he needs to just retire.

No knock against D-Fish, he's a great guy, and I wish the best for him and his family. But the NBA is a business, and he obviously hasn't been producing.
