Today was a good day....
Me too. I was so bummed we were THAT close to winning the Rose lottery. This is the year we get payback!
If I remember KP's story correctly, they usually do the draw behind closed doors about an hour before the televised ceremony, so likely it's already happened and only the GMs of those 14 teams know the results at the moment.
I agree. I don't want OKC to get Griffin. The only thing they lack from being future contenders is quality bigs. Right now they have NOTHING inside to compliment their perimeter game. Even if Griffin isn't a great post defender, he'll be a very good post scorer and rebounder - and that addresses two of their three biggest deficiencies in one pick. Nope, I'd rather see Griffin go to SAC, WAS or MEM than OKC. I don't want anyone in our division improving more than us through this draft. BNM
I love the draft lottery. The opening of the envelopes is pretty intense stuff, and seeing the team reps smile while hiding their anger away. It's an entertaining 15 mins or however long it is.
IMO, a big part of Westbrook's value is the great defense he provides against opposing point guards. I think they'd do well to stick with him, and focus on the paint (at least for this draft). He's also a little small for a shooting guard. Just because Wade can pull it off doesn't mean every single big point guard shifted into this role will pull it off.
The nice thing about Westbrook is that he can defend both the 1 and the 2 - and can continue to do that when he plays the one or the two on offense, with Rubio also being considered a good defender - they will have 2 good defenders in the perimeter. The point is that Westbrook already plays a lot like a rim-attacking small-guard - it is good that he can distribute the ball as well - but he is not a great distributing point - and in college played both positions and was actually better as a SG. They would gain much from playing both of these guys together - if Memphis actually is stupid enough not to take Rubio.
