they need to change the rule so it gives the team 2 fts and the ball. i mean come on, its ruining the game and most of the time players are never going for the ball...thoughts?
I disagree. It's a part of the game that the offensive team has to deal with. Hell, Denver was in that situation because of Carter's idiotic pass and Karl's mismanagement of timeouts.
Its fine the way it is. A few games of players throwing the ball in the air and getting 3 free throws will change the strategy. Also, Denver had a good shot at that rebound, their chance of collecting that might be better then hitting a contested 3.
I don't think teams use this strategy enough. I don't see why the offense should be allowed to have all the advantages, they already get away with a lot more than the defense.
I don't think that its ruining the game. There are a lot of players that aren't smart enough to recognize when they have a foul to give anyways, so more often than not a team doesn't use the foul to give anyways. Its a reward for a team thats been playing good defense and not fouling a lot during a quarter.
I disagree. Any time they do this, they take a risk, because there are a lot of players in this league who are good enough that they will see the foul coming and throw up a shot and get to the line for 3. Take your risk if you want. Hell the Blazers have taken advantage of teams running this fouling policy the last few years. Rememember the 4 point play by Outlaw at the end of the Toronto game? You cannot be selective and just say because in this game it worked, that you have to change the rules. . The key is timing, and recognizing if they think they can get a shot off or not.
