Didn't catch the game, but why did Bynum play 15minutes? Foul trouble?
And why Shannon had less PT than usual?

For anyone who didn't hear it, Phil Jackson is 42-0 if he wins game 1 of the series, no matter which round.
    So

Yes it was foul trouble. Shannon was a little cold, that hurts him even more when you have a three guard rotation and Phil is in love with Fish.

And just so you guys know, Mike and Mike from the ESPN show is still picking against us. Like we couldn't play better... :[

How would you guys assess Bynum yesterday and what else do you expect from him?

I noticed Spike was one of the first people to congratulate Bryant after the game, after collaborating they must be somewhat close I suppose. The guy on the left had this pretty funny HBO show (He's Larry David from Curb your Enthusiasm), he wrote jokes for Seinfeld and co-created it, IIRC. :O

^Larry David is my HERO, what I would do to meet that guy or watch a Laker game with him.

What a game that was last night. And what a clutch steal by Ariza! I haven't gotten that excited over a game in a while. Great stuff. I hope we can keep home court in Game 2.

Re: WCF: Lakers vs. Nuggets (Lakers lead 1-0)

So I got to watch most of the game last night, and the Lakers looked pretty solid. Aside from defense on 'Melo, they weren't too shabby on defense. Chauncey struggled with his shot early on and couldn't really get much going until he hit those two treys near the end of the game.

Kobe was sensational last night though, especially in the 4th. 18 points and a slew of clutch FTs, he was absolutely money in the 4th. He also did about as good of a job as you can on 'Melo, especially considering how much bigger 'Melo is than him.

The Nuggets certainly didn't help themselves much last night. First and foremost, you can't miss 12 FTs against a team as good as the Lakers and expect to win. The foul line absolutely killed them last night, and I'm betting they're all going to be shooting extra FTs today and tomorrow in shootaround. Their 15 TOs also didn't help them too much either. Maybe the biggest thing though was the Lakers dominance on the glass last night. Outrebounded them 46-37 and got 17 on the offensive end, leading to a bunch of second chance points.

Overall, it was a solid outing by us. We did plenty of good things in the game, making almost everyone except 'Melo a non-factor. However, if we're going to win this series, we are going to have to find a way to stop him. We can't have him going off for 39 every night and expect to win. Kobe saved us in the 4th last night with those 18 points, if it wasn't for him, we'd all be complaining about how the Nuggets stole HCA this morning, instead of discussing a pretty decent comeback win.

I agree completely with how Magic analyzed the game. The Nuggets were left puzzled as to how they lost the game they completely dominated...

On our part, this is a huge positive sign. We played a sluggish game, we didn't shoot the ball to well to start the game (aroung 39% during the 1st half i think) and we still won by 2. I'd love to see us play at full potential from here on out please.

Last night was fantastic playoff basketball. This series is going to get intense with all the physical play going on. I wish they allowed the bigs the same freedom they gave to the perimeter guys to bang and fight for position.

Lakers usually lose these type of games and I'm glad we persevered and won a game we should have lost. A few key plays tipped this game in our favor. Kobe Bryant was amazing in the closing moments and I gained a lot more respect for the player Melo has evolved into. He's finally returning to the quality player he was at Syracuse where winning was his primary goal.

I really want to call this a 5 game series, but this Laker squad is so damn unpredictable. I'm not even sure it's beneficial for the Lakers to close this series out without a challenge. We get so complacent when it's easy going.

Maybe he was just in the area, and I'm sure he just loves to watch basketball too.

'Melo was damn good last night. He used his size over Kobe (and about ever other player that tried to guard him) to his advantage. He's also become a three point shooting threat this year, something he wasn't his first few years in the NBA. He's really starting to put his name back up there with Kobe, Wade and LeBron as the class of the NBA.

And I'm with you on the series as well. I think the Lakers could easily take it in a sweep or in 5, but I chose 6 simply because we haven't been able to peg which Lakers team is going to show up on a nightly basis. I do know one thing though, we can't let Kobe bail us out on a nightly basis like he did last night, otherwise, we're not going to win this series.

I'll admit. Kobe does unnecessarily bitch sometimes. He's really calm outside the court but inside he's emotional as hell.

Good game last night, close one. I honestly expected Nuggets to win but Lakers wanted it more. Especially Trevor Ariza. I don't think they would of won if it wasn't for his amazing steal.

This is going to be a crazy series. :)

Melo was taking it to Ariza, Kobe was guarding Billups until Ariza picked up his fourth foul in the middle of the fourth quarter. Bryant did his job on D Melo only scored 4 points on him.

The steal was amazing, but shortlived celebration after Chauncey hit the three ball. Last night's game was an emotional roller coaster. Even if you aren't a fan of either team you had to have enjoyed the game.

I don't blame Kobe for being emotional. It's his competitiveness that makes him great. I'm sure we've all been in situations where our emotions get the best of us. At least Kobe harnesses that emotion and produces results from it. He's completely locked in once the switch goes us. He refused to allow his team to lose last night and his energy carried over to Gasol making two huge defensive stops and Ariza snatching the inbounds pass and sealing the game. Great stuff!

I'm a little concerned with Kobe's technical count though. As this series goes on and the intensity picks up he's going to be vulnerable to more outbursts.
