The Nuggets are stupid for not telling the NBA the building was booked ahead of time, but the NBA definitely should have changed the schedule after they found out the arena has been booked for almost a year and over 10,000 tickets are already sold to that event. They work around the NHL, why not WWE?
Vince McMahon is just trying to soak up the attention because he allowed his league to become somewhat irrelevant, and surpassed by other fighting organizations. And I doubt the Nuggets had anything to do with the scheduling, I imagine it was all the NBA. With tickets being sold for the WWE event, I'm sure the NBA knew. I wouldn't be shocked if this was just David Stern saying, "I'm more powerful than you and your steroid-ridden league Vince McMahon."
Stan Kroenke was pretty stupid for letting anything like this happen. I just wonder how they're going to fix this situation.
Vince is going milk this shit like a motherfucker. But he is in a Win-Win situation. The Thought was brought up to bring the show down the road for the troops in Colorado and give them a nice show.
Sounds like the owners of the Pepsi Center were hedging against the Nuggets not making it this far. What does that say about their franchise? They basically double booked the venue, because season ticket holders and playoff tickets go on sale well in advance. Season ticket holders actually have to pay a lump sum upfront for every possible game regardless of how far the team advances. You get refunded for any game they don't play or you can carry the difference over into the purchase of next season.
Are you sure about that? For the Bulls at least, you have to purchase 2 pre-season games I believe, and then the regular season. Then you purchase your playoff tickets about 2 weeks before the playoffs, with season ticket holders getting first dibs. I don't think this has anything with hedging against the Nuggets not making it this far. WWE Raw is just a one night event. I'm sure they thought that the NBA would just schedule around it. I honestly think David Stern just wanted to send a message to McMahon that he is greater than him.
It's how they do it for Laker playoff tickets. I used to have to pay close to $5K for Laker playoff tickets upfront when I had season tickets. Nice job by the Staples to step in and grab the event. LOL.
