The New York Yankees beat up on the Baltimore Orioles and won by a score of 9-1. Starting for the Yankees was C.C. Sabathia and he got the win. He gave up one earned run.

C.C. Sabathia had great control and was throwing his 4-Seam Fastball for first pitch strikes all night. His velocity was awesome hitting 92-94 mph on the radar gun. He struck out seven batters and five of his strikes outs were by a filthy change up in the dirt. What made his change up effective is that he was throwing it 8 mph slower than his 4-Seam Fastball.

In C.C.’s last outing, he was throwing a filthy slider for strike outs but tonight he switched it up and was using a wicked change up that broke 6″-7″. He had a very good strike to ball ratio by throwing 69 strikes and only 36 balls.

The only run C.C. gave up was a fielder’s choice and it was no harm no foul. He had great mental toughness and never gave in to the batters. He had an easy night and had a fluid motion to his wind up. After the Yankees scored seven runs in the seventh inning, C.C. came out of the game and he did his job.

A-Rod is making life much easier for Mark Teixeira. Mark has the best protection in the league. There’s nothing more you can say about these guys except that they are both in the zone. Both of their home runs were see ya later type of home runs. When they hit it, you knew they were gone. It’s going to fun to watch these two all year.

Almost every one through the line up contributed. What’s going on with Francisco Cervelli? He was batting .190 in Trenton and now he’s hitting like a super star. This isn’t a complain however. I love it.

What a great feeling to be typing about a win right in the middle of a Yankees’ winning streak. It gets no better than this.

Player of the Game: C.C. Sabathia. Was untouchable after the first inning.
