Say you were drinking for a night. What two bottles of booze would you buy and why? I'll go with a bottle of Maker's Mark and Patron Silver. I like maker's and cokes and tequila is the best shooter and patron silver is really really smooth.
I'm not a fan of the goose. Its become kind of the defacto drink of the douchebag at nightclubs..more about style than taste. To me, Ketel One is way better, goose has a strange aftertaste.
I didn't like Patron Silver as much as Don Julio. Though at some point I'd like to check out the Herradura Suprema Seleccion to see if it's all that. Maker's is an ok choice, but there are sooooo many good Bourbons out there now. I'm not a huge vodka fan--no difference between Ketel and the Goose or Belvedere for me. Ron Zacapa 23-year rum, and Don Julio for me.
I liked the Don Julio Respoado better but the Patron Silver is so clean. Makers, its just really comforting....its my go-to drink. With Vodka...the only way I like it is in a martini to be honest or shots. I am not a fan of ANY of the mixers (tonic, fruit juice, or whatever..although I do enjoy a Mandarin 7).
Pendleton 20, if you could still get it. Best whiskey I ever drank, hands down. But, since it's gone, I'd go with Blanton's Bourbon. Hey, the bottle is shaped like a big grenade and there is a horse and jockey on top! For a clear, I'd go with Cabo Wabo tekillya. Good stuff. Herredera's a little better tasting, but how can you not support Sammy Hagar?
I know this stuff isnt well known...but it is sooooo damn smooth. Id never takes shots of vodka, except for this stuff. Not too expensive, I recommend giving it a try. Its a soy vodka (should it even be allowed to be called vodka?!?!)...its good, trust me http://www.3vodka.com/index.php PS...Ive only tried the normal stuff (bottle on left)
I've got a bottle of Patron Reposado and I don't know what to do with it. It's been sitting on my fridge for months.
Use the MD as a chaser. The blackouts are fantastic, and the acetaminophen really takes the edge off the hangover. The only problem is that over time you stop seeing the color blue.
I'm confused why you would mix Makers with coke. Or any decent whiskey. Sure, you can taste it a tiny bit, but if you're mixing it, just get soem cheap shit. Wasting a good bottle of booze mixing it with coke.
When I had some Pendleton 20 last year, I would have broken someone's fingers if they tried to mix it with anything. That said, Crown and coke tastes loads better than most cheap whiskeys and coke, for not that much more money. (Same with regular Pendleton.)
