Rumors of Allen Iverson coming to Charlotte with Larry Brown. What do you think will happen? I believe LB said there isnt a spot for A.I. But what are your thoughts? Think we will see A.I. in a Bobcats uni next year?
I would think Iverson will take a lesser role on a championship callibur team, if he's telling the truth when he says he wants a ring. Charlotte would be perfect for AI to keep getting his stats and be the baller that he is. I think taking the MLE and playing for CLE, LA, or BOS, would be prime. and no AI won't ruin any chemistry like some people believe he did to the pistons.
new york knicks.... they could sign him and still have enough money for lebron... plus ai would be sweet playin for dantoni
I just don't see that....once he started complaining about coming off the bench and the minutes he was getting, even though Detriot was doing better.....showed tht he still wants a bigger role and isn't willing to take a back seat and ride his way to a ring...he wants to play a focal role in getting a title. But with his style and how he needs to have the offense funnel to him...it just don't see him going to a contender. I think a lesser team on the fringe would benefit him more....something like a Charlotte....or even the Wolves....where there is a young nucleous with a big man (Big Al is a beast). In 'Sota he will have a big man to score inside, draw double teams and give him open shots. And with the way Minnesota was playing after the new year, before Big Al was lost for the season (2nd best record since 1 Jan) with a strong draft, AI and Sota can cause serious fits
Stay away from the "Problem." This team is finally heading in the right direction with Larry Brown and shouldn't risk any setbacks with Iverson causing chemistry issues mid-way throught the season. Brown is constructing this team built on defense and ball movement.
^ i think the IVERSON haters should just stay away from these threads, because thats obviously all this is.
No, it's just logic. A young team starting to build chemistry should stay away from someone that's going to completely obliterate it and turn it inside out. And if Iverson really gave a rat's ass about a ring (like you claim he does), he wouldn't have dogged it his entire time in Detroit. He wouldn't have bitched about having to be a 6th man and say he'd rather retire. He'd have manned up and took on the role, knowing that it's for the best of the team. Until Iverson proves me otherwise, I'm going to continue to think he simply wants to score, score and score some more. He could sure do it on the Bobcats, but he'd kill their chemistry completely. They're just a half-step away from the playoffs and could probably use a good, reliable scorer, but I don't think AI is that guy.
u seriously think that detroit team with iverson had ANY sort of chance??? really? if so u are dumb... incredibly dumb... im also gonna note that curry played the system perfectly to iversons weakness.... iverson is gonna go to a team where he can produce... possibly sign a 1 year put up numbers and sign another big contract...
This debate was just covered a few days ago in another thread. http://sportstwo.com/forums/showthread.php?t=139729 The Pistons won 59 games last year with Billups, Iverson was clearly an issue for them.
I'm not saying that they had any chance, but if he gave a damn, they'd have had a better one. Iverson isn't getting a big contract, just so you know. He's what, 33 now? He's exiting the prime of his career. No one is going to give him big money at this stage of his career. And then if you take in to consideration the economy...yea, no one is giving AI big money. He's not worth it.
wether he gets big money isnt the question... detroit had the absolute worst offense for iverson... who gets a lot of his points in transition offense and defense... which is why earlier i think he would be sweet for the knicks.. detroit was a COMPLETE half court team that had a really good true pg.. u just cant substitute him for a completely different type of player and still run the same system.. i think AI still has a good 20+ ppg and 6+ assists in him for a few more years....
I thought you'd be traumatized of the Marbury years being a Knicks fan. Iverson and Marbury are pretty much the same player. I disagree with you about Detroit's offense being wrong for him. The offense was carry over from Larry Brown's head coaching days. Iverson thrived under Brown's system in Philly. Iverson in NY would be interesting, but would they offer him more than a 1 year deal to preserve the cap space for 2010?
um larry brown was also the coach for iverson in philli... he doesnt run the same offense everywhere he goes... which is why hes such a good coach... brown ran the offense to highlight chauncy and rip... a complete half court team that could have bigs step out and almost everyone could hit the 3.... (note they also had okur at that time).. also iverson and marbury are NOWHERE NEAR ANYTHING alike... how can u say they are the same player??? u think marbury can go to a denver team without billups and average 27 pts and 7 assists??? no... also ai was only takin 19 attempts a game then.... which isnt like in philly with 25 attempts a game.. he was suprisingly effecient there... also from moving from denver to det... his shot attempts decreased... (given to whom that deserved it? if u say rip im gonna puke cause he shot more than ai did and his %ages are HARDLY better...) his 3pt attempts decreased, and his fta decreased... also if iverson went to NYK i think it would be good... plus if u ever have seen ai and lebron play (at all star games of the last few years) they go well together.. suprisingly well... but honestly... i think no matter where iverson goes hes not gonna get a contract over 1 year.. note this again... larry brown in philli was a completely different team (and system) than todays pistons.. that was a team that ran quite a bit and ai got LOADS of buckets in transition.. idk living in detroit and watching iverson in philli then watching him come here is terrible... it was the worst case for him... also lost a lot of respect after he just stopped playin.... but that doesnt change the fact that hes still an INCREDIBLY talented player.
