I actually think Sacramento will fit Sergio better (assuming, as usual, that Petrie hires a pet coach who agrees with him). D'Antoni's PGs HAVE to be able to shoot.
Hopefully we can ship off that deadweight Brandon too, he's obviously holding the team back from being able to run and he's blocking Rudy from his rightful spot as the starter.
i dont really see a good team because both golden state and ny want shooters or they wont play.....maybe, ummmmmmmmmmmm .............i dont know a team for sergio lol
I really think this is a case of a player that thinks he knows more than the coach. I think he'll be surprised when/if he plays somewhere else and doesn't play much because of bad D and not having a consistent shot. Perhaps more playing time will help him with that or his positives will out weight his negatives, but I think he might find he has the same problem else where. Don't get me wrong, I like Sergio and hope he does do well if he goes somewhere else, but I think he has to realize it's not just the style of play that keeps him from playing.
Exactly. This team is in serious danger of thinking they are better than they really are with the number of wins they keep improving by under Nate. They really should get a coach who will start Sergio and put this team's win totals back down to more 'realistic' levels -- like 30-40 per year.
Sergio can't shoot, can't defend, and can't even get past his defender most of the time. The only part of the game he is actually good at is fast breaks when there isn't really any defense. All he can do is make flashy passes in the open court. He won't get that much playing time anywhere in the NBA if he doesn't improve his negatives.
His passing would be valuable in NY. But I agree with you guys, Sergio can't shoot or finish at the rim. He's seriously one of the worst shooting/finishers I've ever seen. Dude, it's a lay up!
Why should we put faith into a career backup who is one dementional. Can't shoot, defend, and is easy to defend because he can only pass? All that shooting he did last summer barely helped him. He will never be a player that we will be very sorry we gave up on. He may improve because he is young, but my not put our faith in Bayless who has shown he can defend and finish at that basket.
Which further underscores his inability to finish by looking at the fact that Bayless had an identical True shooting percentage (for all intents and purposes) -- as bad as Bayless was from the floor on jumpers he was nearly able to make up the difference with his ability to get to the free throw line. Think about that for a second.
The perfect team for Sergio - my Sunday night over 40 rec league team. He already has a receding hairline. So, a fake ID is no problem. He'd kill in that league. I'd love him throwing me alley-oops that I could bank of the glass for an easy two. BNM
sorry if i'm not in love with these "new" stats like some of you are. i guess i stick to the old stand bys.
It's not all that "new", but what TS% does do a decent job of is accounting for a player's ability to draw fouls and shoot free throws. Straight FG% does not account for a player's ability to generate offense at the charity stripe, so I guess it's your loss that can't embrace different, more complete metrics.
The facts are players that get to the free throw line like Bayless does, and Sergio doesn't, have an easier time keeping their scoring at a consistent level. Even games where their shooting is down, they will get to the line for production, and get opponents in foul trouble. The other thing being, it is an indicator of putting presure on the defense by penetrating the paint. Blake and Sergio put little if any pressure on the paint.
